Re: People's reactions to your names...

My family doesn't like my girls name choice, I am not even sure if they can pronounce it, but I love it, so I don't give two flying flucks if they don't like it.

Re: People's reactions to your names...

We are just going to tell people "its a surprise." We found out this weekend it's a girl and since that won't be a surprise when I deliver, the name will be.
(Although it is hard to put some people off...my friend and I have always discussed baby names we like and now that I know our name and I feel like I don't want to tell but she constantly asks! I am going to have to tell her she'll find out when the baby is born just like everyone else!)

Re: People's reactions to your names...

I refuse to tell anyone our names this time. I didn't want to tell anyone last time either but DH has a big mouth. He told everyone that if it was a girl, it would be Arianna. Well, that wasn't the case. It was on my list but not a definate. Then, when I changed my mind, DH got upset because he already told everyone that was the name. Chat Icon I have a right to change my mind!!!!

I was also sick of all the comments. This time, I don't even think I'll tell DH what names I pick. Chat Icon Is that bad?

Re: People's reactions to your names...

There were a couple of people that did not like one of the names that we were thinking about. It happens to be the name that we used. On the way to the hospital my Aunt asked me NOT to name our son ***** but we did. Nice right...Whatever.

Re: People's reactions to your names...

It happens to us all the time too! We like less traditional names. With our first little girl's name, we got all kinds of faces from people....even my dad didn't like it (her name is Piper BTW). We get strange looks on our chosen names this time around....well..more so the boy name.

I don't really care though. It doesn't bother me; everyone is entitled to their opinion.

What names???Chat Icon I refuse to even discuss it.
I don't care about what others opinions are that's why I don't share. I feel people don't ask to know, they ask to comment.

Re: People's reactions to your names...

That's so annoying! I'm starting to feel like I shouldn't tell people any more...some 'friends' (more like work acquaintances and such) seem to like to pick apart my choices and figure out how they can be "ruined"! I wanna kill!! I find it's the men who do this more than women (with me at least).

Oh, and if I hear the name suggestion "Julius" one more time (our last name is that of a very famous roman), I am going to strangle someone! Chat Icon

I love Piper. My friend's DD is Piper too. And her personality seems to fit the name perfectly.

Re: People's reactions to your names...

My mom is the worst with this! I told her the boy name we are considering and she flat out said she doesn't like it.

Now if we have a boy I am always going to be thinking about how she doesn't like the name of her own first grandchild. She keeps saying it too!

Re: People's reactions to your names...

In the beginning I really didnt understand why people always said they dont like sharing their names. I shared a few names that DH and I were thinking of for girls -- everyone voiced their opinions and practically ruined 2 names for us Chat Icon

I got so tired of hearing everyone else's comments on our names, that I decided from then on, not to tell anyone. When they ask, I simply say "we havent thought of any yet". I dont want other people's opinions to cloud my own or make me feel like we're picking a bad name.

You know what the perfect answer to everyone is. Tell them a name that you know you will never use and is completly silly sounding. People will stop asking.Chat Icon

Re: People's reactions to your names...

the boys name i picked on the last pg that didnt last - my family picked it apart... (nicholas, they told me it was too popular, didnt like nick, nick the d*ck)...

anyways... with this baby everyone I tell the name to they like it... I picked a short name, that doesnt really rhyme with anything....

either way. the name is your choice. as long as you love it then you shouldnt be bothered by what anyone else things
