People's reactions to your names...

I hate when people MAKE me tell them my names, and then proceed to tell me what they think!



At 10 days to go, I really don't feel like dealing with you & your opinions!

They are people I don't know that well, so I feel strange saying "I'm not sharing" because they don't even know me to begin with --- they work for another department at my company. I will be so happy when this kid is out.

This is exactly why DH and I haven't told anyone our names, not even our parents! Too many people have opinions and it is really annoying. Especially when you tell them a name you like and they say, "I don't like that. How about you name the baby __________." Ummm no!

I know! You know my status on this subject matter. I am not sharing the names until they are born. If people ask, I tell them we are still thinking about it..

I am also starting to feel like everyone else is going to be dressing my kids..everytime I talk to another family member, all I hear about is the outfits that they bought them..I kind of regret giving away the sexes..ugh!

I tried to say "we are still thinking about it" and they were like, "Well, what are you THINKING"??? I mean what to you say to THAT!?!?!

the ONLY person to say anything sort of negative was dave's sister (naturally)....she was like, OH MY GOD - all the girls i know with that name are terrors...

i said well, that's nice...ours won't be. I felt like slapping her RIGHT in the face though! Wait - i still do!

That is exactly why I don't tell people our names! I just tell them that everything is going to be a surprise the gender and the name!

When I told my sister our girl name...she responded with - "Ugh, I hate that name, but it's your kid."....

we did not want to tell anyone our names for that very reason.

HOWEVER, we did - and now we're changing our girl middle name because of a comment.

screw them all u pick what names you want its your baby

i have a very odd different name that comes where from where i am from and everyone is always like what can i call you for short when i was young i would say you can call me this but once i got to college im like you know what no enough is enough this is my name and you have to get used to saying it im named after my grandmother and im proud of it and its a beautiful name for my origin

so tell everyone to suck it, americans want to be called their full names and so do i so get used it its the name my parents picked n thats final

so know ur baby will be proud of any name u picked bc its special to u.

This is one of my pet peeves as well. I wasn't going around announcing my name possibilities (mine still change every week) but if someone asks I didn't have a problem telling. I've had a few downright rude responses when I tell them (people rolling eyes and saying obnoxious things about my choices), so I've resolved to not tell people anymore. No way am I going to let some rude person change my mind.

We aren't telling people our names anymore. Too many people with too many opinions.
When they ask me I say, "we haven't even thought about it."

Then when we get closer and that excuse can no longer work, I'll say, "it's going to be a surprise!"

I've been getting that with a name DH and I both like a lot, and it makes me . Seriously?! I would never tell someone I didnt like a name that they had picked out! Never!

Yeah I just don't get why people have to open their mouths. Just say, "that's nice," (whether or not you feel that way) and move on!

I have been withholding my baby's name mostly, but for those I've told, their reactions have been favorable....so far, so I think.

I have a STRONG feeling my mom has told everyone she knows though!

I just get quizzical looks, because the names we have chosen are Israeli, and after my father (Yale) so they are very unusual. I just shrug it off...

we just tell everyone it is a surprise. you will find out when she arrives. DH parents passed a comment about a boys name before we found out we were having a girl at thanks giving dinner. so after that, we decided not to tell anyone.

I've wanted the name Chloe since I was in kindergarten!!! People keep telling me shes going to be a porn star or stripper. whatever...as long as it pays good.

I know .. I hate how it effects my opinion on the name.. I can love it.. and stupid me tells someone and they make a comment and then I no longer love it..

The only person that had what to say about the names I picked for a was my mother , she told me it was weird and i hung up on her
