OPK opinions & poll
I'm looking for everyone's opinions here if you don't mind
I've gotten pregnant twice just by doing the deed.
This month I think I'm out. I'm debating using OPK's next month, but dont want to stress myself out over TTC.
Anyway... do you think they add more stress ? or make it less stressful ?
TIA!

Re: OPK opinions & poll
I wouldn't say "stress" for me, but there's more pressure because you *know* when you're about to O and you are frantic trying BD at the right time...how many times....is the test right?....was that really a surge?...did you miss your window?
Ok....maybe a little stress
But it does kind of take the guessing out of when you are going to O, so you do have a better chance of getting pg, IMO.
But i've gotten PG both ways (opk, no opk) so it's hard to say.

I got stressed just reading that.
That's what I'm afraid of. Stressing out the entire first half of the month waiting to see the O.
thank you for your reply!

Re: OPK opinions & poll
Stressful for me! It means constantly testing every day for me. My cycles are very long, so I go through 40 internet tests before ovulation is detected! It's stressful and frustrating but the only way for me to know when i'm going to ovulate. If i had a normal cycle and only had to use 10 tests, it would not be as bad.

Re: OPK opinions & poll
not at all!!
i think its more stress free actually...
because you know after getting the positive and BDing the days that you are supposed to when you get the +... you know you did everything RIGHT!! so in the 2WW, you dont have to "think " of when you mght have O'ed

Re: OPK opinions & poll
I think its better to use them as at least you know - for me I WANT and NEED to get pregnant ASAP as my dd is getting older as am I . I didnt want to just cruise along and hope for the best as I know now how many factors are involved in getting pregnant.

Re: OPK opinions & poll
In an ideal world - I would be patient and just see if things happen but in reality I like to plan, I like to understand how things work and so therefore I think OPK's help me. It gives me a sense of being able to help things if I BD at the right times....It still is taking me a while but I feel like I'm doing all I can.

Re: OPK opinions & poll
I don't think that they add to the stress. It was stressful for me because my cycles are all over the place,I bought the cheap OPK's and I was nervous if I was reading it right.

Re: OPK opinions & poll
yes, it's a bit stressful to plan your TTC. BUT I would have no way of really knowing when I O so I would be even more frustrated without them.

Re: OPK opinions & poll
TTC in general is stressful.
OPKs give me more control over something I really have no control over otherwise! I would have no clue when I O'd -- and would basically miss the mark every time.

Re: OPK opinions & poll
I think they do add more stress for me because I am so focused on when I am O'ing and when we need to BD. BUT, if I didn't have them, I would also be stressed with not knowing. It's a catch 22!

Re: OPK opinions & poll
Yup, I am a control freak in general so the OPKs give me a sense of control which makes me feel proactive and more at ease.

Re: OPK opinions & poll
I always feel let down when I don't get a smiley face. I try and try but it's like testing for PG!
