Opinions please- regarding birthday party start time for 3yr olds and under

Starting to plan DS's 3rd birthday party. It would be at a play place (1 1/2 long) and only for about 5 kids around the same age. I just called about two diff weekends and these are the times avail:

Sat @4pm or 5pm

Sat @10am or 4pm
Sun@11am @12pm or 1pm

DS usually naps at 2 although he seems to be trying to phase out his nap Chat Icon We had his party at 10am last year and the was rough getting ready in time, now with a new little one I think that's out! Is 4 or 5 too late?

I don't think 4 or 5 is late at all! We went to a party at My Gym that started at 5 (for a 2 year old) and it was fine! Then again, my kids go to bed pretty late and are not on much of a schedule- so these things don't bother me.Chat Icon

I have a 3 year old (who no longer naps) and I would prefer earlier. the 10 or 11 am would be perfect for us. I would go to a party at 4 but my kids are in bed at 7:30ish so usually around 5 they are hungry and getting really tired.

I would love a 4pm party! Naptime over here is usually 11-1ish, give or take 30 min or so, so a 2pm party is doable but we are often scrambling a bit and anything earlier throws off his schedule.

I also love 4:00 parties. It gives us plenty of time to do stuff in the am, have Lunch and a nice nap. It also gets us home in time for DD to wind down before bed. She will be 3 in a week at that is going to be the start time for our party. 4:00 seems to work well for younger kids/babies too.

I think it depends on if food is being served. I would prefer a party at 10 am or 11 am due to my DD's nap schedule.

It looks like regardless of time pizza and juice is served....but just for the kids, if we did a party at 4 we should probably provide food for adults, no?

Early is better for us bc DD is trying to drop her nap but gets real cranky from 4 till bedtime at 7. But we would come at the other times, usually shes not as cranky around other kids Chat Icon

I would prefer the 10 or 11am party. DS is dropping his nap but, he gets very very cranky between 4-5pm and is much better in the morning.

10 would be the best
11 and 4 would also work as long as there was good for the kids. My kids nap around 12 or 1 but can adjust it for a party

We just booked DS' 3rd birthday party at 9:30am on a Sunday.

IMO, I prefer mornings over afternoons, people come to the party and then have the rest of the day to themselves.

We tend to book at 11. Once took 10:30. I personally think that earlier than that is kind of putting people out- especially if they don't live very close by. I'm not crazy about late afternoon parties bc I hate that my kids fall asleep in the car on the way back. That especially happens if it's a really active party.

I like the 4:oo or later afternoon parties... like you my DD still naps, and I like to get stuff done during hte AM, plus my DH works in the AM so it works out that he can come...

I dread early morning parties Chat Icon Everyone leaves so early every other day of the week... I hate doing it on the weekend.

I like the early morning party TBH. Doesn't kill the day. Last year we did 10am for DD's 3rd bday and everyone loved it. This year we couldn't work that out so we are doing 2-4

5 is great! Dd has had a few at five, I have learned to wash her hands and face and change her into her pjs because she will fall asleep for the night on the way home. Easy bedtimeChat Icon she loves those parties!

We're having DD's 3rd bday party and pump it up starting at 10:30am. I liked the idea of having it early, having lunch there, then families still have the rest of the day together (or kids can take their afternoon naps at home).

We are having DS's 2nd birthday next Saturday and it is starting at 3:00. I would go to any of those times, but the mid afternoon start times would be hard, DS takes his afternoon nap from 12:30-2:30. 4 or 5 is not late at all! DS goes to bed around 7:45-8:00, but he doesn't start to crank out until 7:30 or so.

I personally prefer early so I can still do something else during the day. Plus, I don't really like pizza for dinner if I can help it.

But, if you are only inviting 5 kids, why not feel out those parents?

We had DS's 3rd party on a Sunday from 330-530. They served pizza and juice at the end and the parents were happy because they didn't have to rush home and make dinner.... We fed the parents too...

I prefer morning with anything and everything. DD usually naps at 1pm and sometimes goes till 5pm, so morning is best for us.
