Opinion on holiday cards....
DH wants to do a collage of all of the best pics of the year of my DC for our holiday cards. I say that we should do our normal holiday shoot with their holiday outfits.
I don't mind doing the collage, however I feel that most people like to see how the kids grew in the past 365 days rather than what we did all year you know what I mean?
Would a collage go over well with the traditional holiday card recipients ?

personally, i would think a collage would be overkill i think 3-4 pics is a good amount otherwise its just cluttered.. or a giant card

Oh well I didn't mean a collage but like maybe 5 or 6 pics or something like that. Nothing huge. Ugh ok thanks!

I like both. I do like collages... Some are really fun to see. One quality picture looks great on top of my fireplace.
On my cards, I put a collage of 3 pics on front & one funny sweet pic in back. Everyone had the back displayed at their house!

Personally, I like to see a Christmas pic/pics. I think the "look at how awesome our year was" Christmas cards can be obnoxious...plus, the more pics you put on, the smaller they usually are. Can you put the Christmas pics in front and then do a mini collage on the back with pics from the year?

Re: Opinion on holiday cards....
I'd do the collage for the back of the card. I kinda did that with my girls birthday invitation. Newborn, 6 mo, 9 mo.

Thanks ladies. tbh the only reason DH wants to do this is because the holiday picture taking experience is usually a bad one haha. Our year was certainly nothing to brag about!

Re: Opinion on holiday cards....
Wow, I'm way in the minority, but I prefer a collage. I'd rather see kids in action than a posed holiday pic.

Re: Opinion on holiday cards....
I did a collage one year (2011) Just grabbed photos from the year itself. The card said something like 2011 ... what a year!
Now I'm back to just holiday shoots. I just didn't do one in 2011 (money!) so it was my solution.

Re: Opinion on holiday cards....
Another minority, I like to see candid non holiday shots. I stopped doing holiday shoots bc I think its just another excuse to spend $. We had a family shoot over the summer for both my boys bday & those are the pics we ate using

This! If it's a cute pic of your LO then go for it. I'm not doing a "holiday" picture of the boys this year. First off, we celebrate Hanukkah and I send out the cards to all friends and family that celebrate different holidays. This year I am sending a cute family shot from Disney World. I like to see a mix of shots hanging in my house that holiday'ish, family shots, collages, whatever.

Re: Opinion on holiday cards....
IMO - whatever is easiest.
I do prefer picture cards, but I only look at it for a min and toss them in a pile.
Don't go crazy.

Re: Opinion on holiday cards....
I personally like holiday inspired cards & photos BUT I'm extremely traditional.
I am not a fan of getting pictures of your kids on a cruise in bathing suits for your Christmas card (especially when it says Merry Christmas)
I still love seeing peoples kids.
