Spinoff to Holiday cards - need your opinion.
Our first child is due the end of October. It will probably take me a month to get the announcements out (around Thanksgiving) and then 2 weeks later I will need to send Holiday cards. Plus at the same time I will need to send out the invites for the Christening. So do you think it is ok if this year we combine our birth announcement/holiday greeting? That way we are only sending 2 mailings in early Dec. What do you think?
Please do not move to the Pregnancy board, as it isn't just about Pregnancy.

Awwwww, that's cute! I like that idea. You can have a holiday border or theme to the announcement and then have a line wishing them a happy holidays.

I would combine the birth announcement/holiday card - especially if you go into November.
I'll send you a website that has some great combo holiday/announcement ideas.

We are doing a combo this year. My DS is due in November and I am not sending out 50+ cards twice.
I think we are doing a normal holiday card and it will reference our new arrival (something to the effect of our favorite gift this year), then have a gift tag hanging off the card with his stats and birth info.
I would love to see the combo website that Barbara was referencing for more ideas.

My dd was born November 18th so I did a combo card. I had a really cute poem. I'll see if I can find a copy that's not packed away to far in the back of a closet.
ETA: I found it!
It was a large note card. On the front cover the poem was:
T'was the night before Christams
and all through the house
were blanket, bibs and diapers
it's quite a mad house!
Mommy and Daddy are exhausted
but elated it's true
For it's the first Christmas with
Guess who???
Inside the cover I had:
We's like to introduce our new babu sister and then put in all the stas with a nice christmas wish.

very cute......we got one a few years ago and the cover said
"santa came early this year....."
and the pic was the baby sleeping on her belly in her diaper with a big red bow on her back.

One of my friends did this last year, and it turned out really cute. They sent out a card, and on the front were pics of the baby and a verse from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas - "It came without ribbons, it came without bows..." I don't remember the rest. And the inside said something like, "Our gift came early this year! Introducing... (baby info) We hope your holidays are as happy as ours!"
