One Years Old & Naps?

Is your LO still doing two naps?

If so, morning or afternoon? Which do you prefer/did prefer if you have an older LO now?

If it is afternoon do you find it to be inconvenient?

Joey is still taking 2 but could easily drop one if I wanted him too Chat Icon My thinking is I find the morning one really convenient b/c it's not smack in the middle of the day and would love to keep it that way but then I think. . .that's a LONG day! IDK.

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

He is taking 1 or 2. His whole day depends on when he wakes up. If he wakes up around 7ish then 2 naps, 10am and maybe 3pm. If he wakes up closer to 9ish then 1 nap around 12ish. Then its like a different cycle everyday. Then he goes to bed earlier with 1 nap does the opposite the next day. Goes to bed later the next day, on and on and on...

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

Before DD turned 1 she was fighting that afternoon nap. So we didn't force it and just gradually made her morning nap later. By 13th months her 1 nap was at around 12 for 2 hours. Still is at 16.5 months. At night she sleeps from about 8:30p to 8:30a.

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

I was going to ask this question..

DD is almost 15 months. Some days she does 2, some days 1. I am trying to just get her to 1 good nap each day. She wakes up between 6 and 7, she's been napping around 12 for 1.5-2 hours. Then she's asleep for the night by 7.

DD turned 1 a few weeks ago and she still takes 2 naps when she is home with us. At daycare her room only gets 1 nap.

I was wondering this too.

He's been taking 2 naps.

If he wakes up at 6, then usually one at 9 and another at 2.

Yesterday we tried to put him down about an hour late for his second nap and he fought it for 30 minutes so we took him out and he just didn't have a second nap at all.

IDK if it's because he was overtired, because we had company, or because he just doesn't need it! I'm no help at all.

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

DS is 14 months and for the past 6 weeks or so he sometimes fights his afternoon nap. We will put him down and just roll around and play for awhile. Sometimes he'll fall asleep for 45 minutes and sometimes he just won't go to sleep. His morning nap had gotten later (usually goes down close to 11) and sleeps for 1.5-2.5 hours. His PM nap is sometimes an issue because if he sleeps for too long, he wants to stay up late and that's just no good for mommy and daddy Chat Icon So now we don't let him sleep later than 5:30 pm.

Ideally, I would love for him to take one nap from from 12-3.

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

When DS turned one, he moved to a new room at daycare where they take 1 nap a day. It's actually been great!

He naps from 11:30 - 2:00 - sometimes to 2:30 everyday! Yes, it's in the middle of the day, BUT:

You now have the entire morning to do whatever you need to - including a playdate if you want!

Once DS wakes, you have the rest of the afternoon to do whatever!

The nap is really long which is great for you too - more time to clean, do laundry, nap, watch t.v..... I sometimes don't know what to do with myself!

At daycare, he eats lunch before the nap so I think that helps with the long nap so he's not waking up hungry.

ETA: He sleeps 6:30pm-6:30am at night.

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

Right around the time my kids turned 1 they went to one nap and it was in the morning. Around 10:30-11 until 1 or so. Then they would be up until bedtime at 6:45. They would occasionally nap in the car for 15 mins or so around 4...Maybe make his bedtime earlier if you want to do a morning nap

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

At 1, Sasha was still doing two naps. When I transitioned to one nap, I pushed it back-- so she was getting her nap in the middle of the day. Now she goes down anywhere from 11 30/12 and will sleep til 1/1 30. If she had only say, the morning or afternoon nap-- it wouldn't work for her. Too long to be awake.

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

we dropped the morning nap by 11 or 12 mo i think..

DS takes 1 solid nap from 11:30ish / noon depending on his wake time that morning, and will sleep a solid 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs; so it is right smack in my day, but he does much better this way.

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

DS takes one nap; around noon-1:00 or 1:30 (never longer than an hour and a half). He goes to bed at 8PM and wakes up at 6:30 or 7. It's not tons, but it works for him. It is kind of a PITA being smack in the middle of the day, but we divide things into morning or afternoon. Since he wakes up early, this morning we were at Target by 8AM. Very empty!

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

Depends. He was always off with his naps since he was a lil one. Some days he does 1or2. And it doesn't matter if he's with me, my parents, or daycare. When he's with me I force him to take two unless we are out he will do cat naps in the car. Being preggo I could nap three times a day. So when he naps I nap. Chat Icon

DS usually takes 2 naps but lately can survive on 1 just fine. however, when he only has 1 nap he goes to bed at 630 instead of 730 lol. mommy needs a rest at that point.Chat Icon

DD is 17 months, at 12 months she was still taking two naps, 10-12 and then 2-3 or 4.

Somewhere in the past few months, she's dropped to one nap, usually 12:30-2/2:30. I think part of it has to do with the fact at daycare they do one nap (she's part time), so the schedule eventually carried over to home.

ETA: She goes to bed at 7pm

Re: One Years Old & Naps?

It all depends on the day & what time he wakes up. On a normal day, he is up by 7:30 & takes him morning nap around 10:30 but it is only for 40 minutes. Then he takes a 2 hour nap around 3ish.

If on the weekends, he tends to sleep in or we are out & about, he will take only 1 nap around 2ish & do 2.5 hours

DD is 14.5 months. At around 11 months she dropped her 2nd nap but just recently she started taking it again (not that I'm complaining Chat Icon). Her schedule usually looks like this:

7:00/7:30 (sometimes 8ish on the wknds) - Wakes up
Drinks mik, has breakfast, plays
10:30/11:00 - Takes 1.5-2 hour nap
Has lunch, drinks milk, plays
3:30/4:00 - Takes 1 hour nap (sometimes will skip this but most days will take some kind of nap at this time)
5:30/6:00 - Eats dinner
7:30 - Drinks milk
8:00/8:30 - Goes to bed
