Oing pains question
Hey ladies
I'm on CD22 right now. I've been having pains on my front left side for a couple of days now. Then yesterday and today, I have had very definite pains on the front right side. I think I may still be a week or so from Oing. At least I hope so.
Where do you get your pains?

Re: Oing pains question
The only O pain I get is a sharp shooting pain from either side that lasts less than a minute about 2 weeks before AF comes.

Re: Oing pains question
Going thru that now. Today is CD15 and since yesterday I've been having some cramping on my left side...and then it goes over to my right. It's almost like a pinching feeling. But my OPK keeps coming back neg. This seems to happen every month, but this is the first month I'm using OPKs. I'm very confused by it all!

Re: Oing pains question
I'm not sure if everyone gets different pains, but I get sharp, constant pains in one side. It feels like gas pain. I asked my Dr. what they were and he said it was O pain. It matches up to my charts so I guess he was right.
I joke b/c I have pain and want DH to leave me alone, but that won't work out too well. LOL

Although I just started the OPK this month we are determined. So even though I haven't gotten my + OPK yet, DH and I have been BD as soon as AF went away every other day. Then yesterday, I started to feel the pinching and noticed a little change in my CM (a little more of it - kinda sticky - not EWCM - sorry TMI). We BD'd yesterday and today and will probably continue to BD everday for the next week. Hopefully, I'll get the + OPK soon, but I know some OPK's don't always work for everyone so I don't want to take any chances. Hope this works for you, me and everyone!!

Re: Oing pains question
I think I stumbled upon the answer courtesy of peeonastick.com.....
"My OPK results don't align with my ovulation pain. Is the OPK wrong? The official medical word for "ovulation pain" is "mittelschmerz," which is the official German name for "I am a jelly donut." Wait, I'm confusing my German phrases. Actually, "mittelschmerz" means, literally "pain in the middle." If you are like me, you grew up hearing "Ow, I'm ovulating" from big sisters or girls at school. Much as I love my sisters, they really didn't know what they were talking about. Who am I kidding? All little sisters love announcing a revelation like that ;)
Most women don't really feel themselves ovulate. ("I do!" you're exclaiming.) Probably not. ("But look at my chart! It only happens around ovulation!") Yup, happens to me too . . . and it may be occurring the exact moment of ovulation. But in fact, studies on mittelschmerz have shown that a woman is just as likely to have these pains days before ovulation (when the egg follicle is growing, or a build-up of mucus in the Fallopian tubes getting ready for ovulation) or after ovulation (the egg bursts out of its follicle with some force-- sometimes women will experience spotting or moderate bleeding at this time.) Yes, you may actually feel the egg burst out of its follicle at the moment of ovulation-- but you could just as well be feeling the pre- or post-ovulatory effects. Or that burrito.
Therefore, if your "ovulation pain" doesn't seem to jibe with the timing of your OPK, go with your OPK-- the presence of the hormone in your urine is a much better detector of ovulation than trying to make sense of twinges or tingles in your abdomen.
For what it's worth, feeling or not feeling "ovulation pain"/mittelschmerz isn't important; some women feel it, some don't, some feel it only sometimes, some are in major pain (up to and including emergency room visits suspecting appendicitis), some are "Hmm, I felt a little twinge." All are variations on normal, and don't mean you are more or less fertile or anything like that."
