NPR: Need Advice

Girls, I need some help here. I don't know what to do..
DH got me a very expensive gift for our anniversary. A Louis Vuitton Damier Neverfull, the biggest one. It's beautiful, but I feel like there is soooo much more we need/could use. I told him, but we need to get bedroom furniture for us, for the nursery. Come February I will be working part-time. He said, "it's fine. We'll get that too. Think of this as your birthday and anniversary gift for a LONG time." I told him that I want to return it and he said, "it's your purse, you can do whatever you want". And I only have a few days if I do return it.
He means well. Neither of us are name droppers or into expensive things. He wanted to do something nice and special since it was our first ann. And we have the baby coming in February.

WWYD?

Thank you so much for reading this. I just don't know what to do.

Initially, I would've felt the same way as you. That we could use the $$ for baby things. BUT, I would keep the bag. Like your hubby said, thing of it as a gift for a long time. Enjoy it!

ITA, keep it and enjoy it. Happy anniversary !
ETA: you can always use it as a diaper bag, so technically it can be a baby gift

I would probably keep it unless I really could not afford it and/or really did not want it. Honestly chances are once the baby comes you won't treat yourself to anything fancy for a while BUT it is expensive so if I did not love it I would return it and treat myself to something I did love .

Look at it this way... That's prob the last nice thing you're going to have for yourself for a really long time. But if it bothers you, maybe compromise and see if you can return and spurlge on a extra nice diaper bag. So it's something for baby but looks hot on mama

I guess I'm in the minority. I would return it. Since I have been PG we have both had Bdays and we had our anniversary and we only did dinner for those days. We aren't even getting each other xmas gifts. Its not that we can't afford gift we would rather save the money right now.

Also I just wouldn't want an expensive bag....I'm just not into them.

Keep it. I feel the same way about the diamond earrings dh got me as a wedding gift and the downpayment on my new car.
Im told after the baby is born these gifts are few and far between.

If it is something you've always wanted and really appreciate the value, I would say keep it. For those of us who don't LOVE bags, it doesn't make sense to keep such an expensive gift.

You could always somewhat compromise and return it for a smaller cheaper version.

But really, you are the preggo one and if you REALLY love it and want it, keep it! You deserve it!!

I would keep it! You will see once the baby comes, your spending changes dramatically. Enjoy it!!!

I would definitely keep it. Look at it as your last big splurge before the baby gets here.
As long as your DH is confident that you can afford the bag and the baby expenses coming ENJOY it!
