Not to OFFEND anyone.....UPDATED its about celebtrity parents
but what is up with all the pretentious names people are naming their kids lately
again not trying to offend or hurt anyone
But is it just me or has the names gotten more pretentious??

exactly, but when this one co-worker told me the names she was poicking out, I wanted to laugh But I didnt because that is HER choice and I would NEVER say anything

I've noticed that a lot of classic names like Emma, Hannah, and Abigail are popular right now. Personally, think they are beautiful.

i think i know what you mean...
i get puzzled looks for my choice of name as it is a foreign name. i like to go for the unique aspect vs. the common and/or now the "pretentious common" route.

People seem disappointed when I tell them we're naming our daughter "Jill". 
Most people respond with "Oh. How about the name...?" 
I just didn't want anything trendy. If the a name is in the top 25 names, I want nothing to do with it.

Exactly!! I am the one who will be saying their name over and over again. I love the names Nicole and Matthew! If I was having a boy, matthew was in my top 3! 
It's amazing that people can't just mind their own p's and q's. I would never comment on a name someone chose.

This is why me & DH have kept our name choices to ourselves. I don't want to hear anyone else's comments, because in the end, it's OUR child, not theirs.

I told my SIL the name we choose for our and flat out laughed in our faces. I thought DH was going to rip her face off. I was so hurt.

Love the name Gianna!
When I chose Jared, I wanted something that no one else would have. I got so many people asking me why I spelled it the way I did...not Jarrett.
No it wasn't in the top 25 list of popular baby names and that's just the way I liked it.

We are naming our son Matthew.
You should be able to name your children anything you want. People can be so funny, if it's a different name outside of the norm they have a comment to make. If it's a common name they still have a comment to make. The problem is that people will always have something to say about anything. What I would do with someone who makes a comment on my child's name is ask them what their name is and then critizcize their name. Throw their stupidity back in their faces.
