NJ people.... Parking ticket question!
I'm in NJ this week.... Around Cherry Hill. My SIL lives at the end of a cul de sac. The other day my MIL came over, so I parked on the street so I wouldn't block her in, and forgot to pull back into the driveway after she left.
Next morning I had a ticket because cars aren't allowed between 2-6am on the street.
There are NO signs anywhere that say that. Nowhere n th neighborhood, on her block, anywhere. SIL thinks its because I have NY plates.
Is this a NJ law? I'm going to contest it, but won't be able to one in person because she's far.
It's only 20 dollars, but still..... I'm annoyed!
Eta I've parked on the street in the past since we've been visiting her for 7 yrs!

NJ people.... Parking ticket question!
No advice, but I was visiting a friend in NJ (South Orange) who also lives on a cul de sac and he didn't tell us we couldn't park in the street from 2-6. I came out the next morning to a ticket ($60!) and he thinks it's because of NY plates too. The 2 other people that parked outside also had tickets on their cars. WTH?! I'd love to know if I can fight this too because there are NO signs anywhere! I'm a little annoyed at my friend too because he had plenty of room in his driveway for all of us and he knew about the rule!

my boyfriend lives in nj. Bergen county. There are signs about non residents parking on the street at those certain times. Now I NEVER knew it until my boyfriend told me and then pointed out the tiny sign that said it when I came off the highway one day. You could probably contest it. But im not sure if its even worth the hassle.

I am from. NJ and I believe all the towns have no parking between 2-6 am. Sometimes I see small signs here and there but I think in suburban towns its the rule. When you have people stay over, you have to bring the car into the driveway or call local police and let them know that a car will be in front of your house.

Each town is different. Where I live in NJ we keep the cars on the street all night and never got a ticket. Actually when I lived on Long Island we weren't allowed to park on the street at those hours too. Like I said, each town is different and it's not just in NJ.

Its a town thing. there are a bunch of towns like that on LI too.
Most of the towns that have it have signs here and there but not like a regular no parkign sign that would be on each block.
I am not sure you can fight it cause the home owner should ahve know and let you know.

NJ people.... Parking ticket question!
It is not a state thing, it would be a township/village/city law. Residents would be aware of this.

Re: NJ people.... Parking ticket question!
Sometimes there are known laws or rules that are enforced even without signs. Just look at the no right on red in NYC....there aren't any signs posted about that. You just have to know that you can't do it.
I live in NJ and we have signs up on certain streets for no parking on certain days between certain times. But it is posted, although the reason where I live is because we are close to the train station and they don't want all the commuters parking on the residential streets.
Did your friend know that you couldn't be parked on the street between those hours?
