Question re: RVC letter re parking ticket I never got - update

Has anyone had this happen? I just received a letter today from the Village of RVC, saying that I have overdue fines for a violation on X date for "NO REG" -- It has a court date listed (that is past) and states my overdue fine.

Here's the thing... Can "NO REG" mean something else? The car is registered, was registered on X date, and has never been unregistered. On the date it states I received the violation, neither my husband nor myself drove the car. We were at work in the city and neither one of us drove ANYWHERE that day and we certainly didn't drive that car that day. (It was only last month, and because it was the day before I left for a business trip, I vividly remember it.)

My questions -- How on early could I have gotten a "no reg" ticket when I wasn't even IN RVC on that date (or any date surrounding that date)? How can I get a ticket for a day I didn't even drive that car?

Does anyone know what "no reg" can mean?

I don't know what no reg means but I remember in college my roommate had her car in albany but received something in the mail about getting a ticket in brooklyn. Who ever entered the information for the ticket entered it wrong and it had her license plate on the ticket. She contacted someone and had the ticket thrown out. I don't remember all the details but that was the gist of the situation.

It very may well be a scam...

I dont remember the specifics but my mother got the same type of ticket or letter requesting payment. It was for like $25. (I dont remember if it was RVC or what town)...

The car wasnt on the road during the time she supposedly got the ticket. It was in our garage.

I know she took the ticket to the police station (Port Washington) and they told her that it was a scam. That most people just assume that they did get the ticket and pay it b/c it's only $25....

One thing I vaguely remember was that there was a phone # to call on the letter and when she would call it she wouldnt get through to anyone. Which was part of the scam I guess...

I'm not sure how it could be a scam -- the address to mail the check is Rockville Centre Village Hall and they want checks / money orders payable to Rockville Centre Village Court.

Up until this morning, I couldn't even find the phone number on the letter (the type is that small). I will call them after 9 AM to ask about this.

I'm in the middle of a trial right now and cannot get to freakin' village court in RVC to fight a $65 bogus ticket.

I just think it's weird if they put in the license plate # wrong and it just happened to be someone who lives a town over... but I guess anything is possible.

I just got off the phone with the court. The police officer wrote in the incorrect plate number - the description of the car doesn't match mine. They are sending me an apology letter.

No harm done.

I am sure she does hear lot of excuses

I jut got a NYC red light camera ticket in the mail

but this was the second notice

I never got the first

so the fine went from $50 to $75

I called and explained what happened- they resent the first letter with the pictures

I still didn't get it- and I know I did it- I forget you can't make rights on red in Queens some times

I work in rvc not sure what no reg is. but it sounds like they made some kind of mistake you should call them or go down there and explain to them what happen.

That you and no one you know was in rvc and your not sure what no reg means.


There usally pretty good. someone took my parking sticker off and I received a ticket and when i explained what happen they took care of it.
