Parking ticket- question- UPDATE!!!!!
***UPDATE***
So my DH actually went to Happaugue to pay the ticket.
The people at the court said the whole thing is an EPIC fail.
1. I was sent the wrong letter. The letter is if I got a red light ticket. Not a parking ticket.
2. The address on the letter was wrong. So If I had mailed in the ticket, it would have come back, again. The address has changed since they made those letters.
3. The fee DID go up, but its not noted, ANYWHERE. Not online. Not anywhere. So there is an extra $30 fee. But you wont know untill you pay or are harassed. Even the officers dont know.
4. Insult to injury. They dont accept checks. They made an exception for DH.
So it was $120 for the ticket.

I got a parking ticket for elapsed inspection. I used to live in another state that you only inspect every 4 years, so I didnt even pay attention when I got the new car.
Anyhow.
I sent the ticket into Islip. It was the only address on the front which is Islip.
I got it BACK in the mail (with a letter and my check) saying I have to send it to Happague now, as of April 10th (or some other stupid date)
The letter sent back to me also said I was on the hook for another $30.
Im like 
So my question is:
1. Do I send in the $90 and see what happenes? If I do this will they THEN send me a letter saying "dude, another $30 please".
2. Do I send in $120?
Im very confused.

It seems as though they gave you a late fee. Is there anyway you can go there and explain the situation? If not, I'd just pay the full amount before it increases.

I cant go in person unfortunatly. I work in the city. Leave at 7am. Home at 7pm.

Make a photocopy of the original envelope showing you mailed it on time and mail that with the payment without the extra $30.

This, plus write a letter that explains that you sent it on time but they mailed it back to you.

Wow, that is REALLY messed up! I'm willing to bet if you had an attorney dealing with it they would have found a way to get it dismissed. There just seem to be too many screw ups on their part! Crazy.

I will be the first to say that I did the crime, I had to pay the time.
I also dont think they changed the price of the ticket AFTER I got it. I think it went into effect before, but no agency other than the one taking the money actually KNOWS this. You send in the ticket on best information..and the best information is wrong.
