Need opinions please
What does everyone think of having an Engagement party 10 months before the wedding?
( Yes there will also be a shower probably 2 months before the wedding)

It's a bit too close IMO. I would skip the e-party and have a co-ed shower instead.

Considering they just got engaged last month I dont think its that bad......but IMO I dont get e-parties. I never even heard of one til LIW.

I don't think it's terrible then provided it's customary to have an e-party in her family.
One girl I knew had an e party 7 months after her engagement and 8 months prior to the wedding. I thought that was rude since she waited so long to have the e-party.

It depends on the size of the engagement party. I think since the timing is so close - a small dinner with family is more appropriate as an engagement dinner then bridal shower then wedding.
3 events for one couple in less than a year is definitely overkill.

our e-party was in june, and we got married in Feb. (so it was 8 months before). it didnt seem to make a difference to anyone (not that they said to our faces anyway  ) But, our eparty was more of a back yard keg party than a formal affair

We didn't have one b/c we got engaged Augusy 9th and got married one year later on Aug. 14th. I thought it would be too much to ask of people. Those who wanted to gave us gifts anyway.
