Need Help -Advice on Weaning off BF
DD is 16 months old and still BF in the AM and PM. I've stopped all other times. I'm thinking its time to wean. I love BF and she LOVES it too but she's getting pretty big - and she won't take a bottle from me (she will from the nanny but only her). She will tug at my shirt and cry if I don't let her. nurse It's also becoming a problem in the MOTN when she wakes up and want to nurse.
Any advice on how to wean?
She's not a pacifier baby - I've tried to get her to take one.
MANY Thanks in advance!

I would start eliminating one session at a time so its not too traumatic for her and so you dont get any plugged ducts. Maybe try getting her dad or even the nanny to take her at the times she usually nurses and start a different routine?

Need Help -Advice on Weaning off BF
I have a 16 month old DD who still nurses at night (who doesn't ever take a bottle - she drinks whole milk in a cup). She points to my chest and "asks" to nurse. Pretty soon I am just going to say no - I think they are almost old enough to understand. Definitely cut out one session at a time. DD was waking up in the MOTN up until a few weeks ago, when I just refused - she got over it quickly. Have you tried telling her no?

Need Help -Advice on Weaning off BF
I cut out the morning session first. I did it when DH was home so I stayed in bed and DH got up with DD. He gave her a sippy of milk and they hung out and watched tv and then he gave her breakfast. I made sure to not come out of my room until she was good and full! Nightime was harder bc we were having a lot of sleep issues at that point so we ended up doing CIO at bedtime (never used to have an issue putting her down awake) and she finally stopped waking during the night from the first night of that. On occasion she would ask after that but I just distracted her and she never pushed it.

Re: Need Help -Advice on Weaning off BF
Thanks everyone. I have tried to tell her no but she starts crying and its hard to distract her - especially in the middle of the night.
My plan would be to have DH do either the AM or PM routine but the problem is he is not always home for either. In fact DD is rarely awake to see him before he leaves in the AM and sometimes not home to see her before she goes down at night. That's a whole different issue
She won't take milk from her sippy cup -- if anything she will take a few sips. I wish she would take it from the cup - would make things alot easier.
She's also teething like crazy so I hate to disrupt her routine too much - but maybe that's just me making excuses...lol
