As a PP said, I think that morning bottle is throwing her off. At that point, she has been sleeping 13-14 hours, so it's not surprising she fights that nap. I might push that nap back a bit and just aim for one really good nap.
With her sleeping that many hours at night, I think it might be easier to do 1 nap more central to the day versus two little ones.
she doesn't get 13-14 hours of sleep at night. there were 2 days when she got close to that... but the days prior, she hadn't napped at all so i think she was just "making up" for it. on a typical day, she's down about 6:45 and up at 7:30 for the day, which is close to 13 hours, but there's a break in there where she's up for a diaper change & bottle. so essentially she prob gets about 12hrs of sleep at night on average.
i would totally go down to 1 nap, instead of 2 little ones, if she was going to take a GOOD nap. but 99% of the time, she will only nap for 30min. and i just don't know if that's really enough for a 9 month old
Even 12-13 hours is a LOT. I would definitely try and just push that first nap back - if it is taking her an hour to fall asleep, she is not tired when you are putting her down. Hopefully if you push that nap back it will sort of merge with the other one and hopefully produce 1 really good nap.
There's no magic answer, just have to keep tinkering. It's possible she is one of those children who sleeps so well at night that naps just won't be that great.
really? 12hrs is a lot for a 8-9 month old at night... plus 1-2 hours during the day? I feel like the majority of kids take 2 long naps at this age... and the books I've read/things I googled say 14-15hrs total sleep at this age, which she's not even really getting. she's never gotten as much as *they* say. hmm. maybe next time she sleeps a little late in the morning I will attempt one nap and just see what happens. I feel like anytime she has an "off schedule" day though, she is MISERABLE the entire next day. what time do kids generally take a nap, when they are down to one nap?

nap regression? what am i doing wrong? please help
My DS almost never slept 12 hours overnight - even today at 2.5, he sleeps an average of 10 hour a night.
At 9 months he was taking at least 2 naps a day. Usually down for the night around 830 - 845 and up by 7ish most days. He would take 2 naps of at least 90 minutes each, sometimes 2 hours each so he would get the recommended 14-15 hours a sleep per day.
At 9 months old, IMO, she shouldn't be getting a bottle & diaper change and going back down for another few hours. She should wake for the day, have breakfast, play, nap. We would put him down to nap usually about 3 hours after waking (usually around 10am & 2pm).
He dropped to one nap somewhere around 16 months old and would consistently sleep at least 2 hours. We recently took away his naps all together because he was getting into a horrible cycle of only sleeping 8-9 hours at night, napping 2 hours and having an extremely hard time falling asleep at night.
The going back to sleep after her early morning bottle may be your problem.

I agree... but she can wake anywhere from 4:45-5:45am which is way too early to start the day - not to mention, she's just not happy or ready to start the day. and if she hasn't eaten in 10-11 hours, I don't feel right making her CIO. she's hungry and takes 8oz very quickly. trust me, I wish she would just wake up at 6:30 or so and we could proceed with the day... i guess i'm just hoping one day she'll do it on her own. there have been nights she's eaten later and gone to bed later and it doesn't effect anything the next morning. she still has her "internal clock" i guess. and putting her to bed later to even try to tweek her mornings isn't doing her any justice. her peak time to be in bed is 6:30-6:45 - she is DONE at that point.
this morning she had another 8:15am wake up. she was in bed 6:40 last night, woke for a bottle at 5:40, was back down by 6:15 and slept til 8:15. i just gave her one nap at 1:15 - it took her 5min to fall asleep. she slept for an hour and 10min but she spent the day happy, so i guess when she sleeps late in the morning, the one nap thing is the way to go. it's just hard to entertain a 9 month old for 5hrs straight
