Need some nap time help, What am i doing wrong?

DS is almost 13 months. He had been taking 2 naps. I still believe he needs 2 naps.

He takes him AM nap no problem. Sleeps for 1.5 hrs usually. He goes down 3 hours after wake up time. He can't hold any longer - rubbing eyes, yawning. Sleeps 11 hrs at night.

But his afternoon nap is now a problem. He doesn't want to sleep but he is tired. Rubbing eyes, yawning. He fights it. I tried putting him down later in the afternoon, same problem. Will throw the paci, walk around the crib. He's even started getting upset that he's in there and yestetday started crying. He eventually fell asleep but only napped for 40 minutes and woke up crying which he never does.

I know he needs the nap bc he's cranky by 5 without it. What am I doing wrong? Bedtime is 7:20-7:30 unless he doesn't nap, then we try for closer to 7 but that's hard bc DH gets home close to 7.

He's 13 months old.

DD started fighting that 2nd nap at 11 months. She just didn't want anything to do with it all of a sudden so we just let her skip it. Then we started pushing the 1st nap later and later and it worked out great. She's been taking 1 nap since 11 months (she's 14.5 months now).

You're not doing anything wrong, DS is just changing. He's at an age where he is more aware & curious and needs less sleep. It was the age Charlie cut her afternoon nap and we worked to push the morning nap back so that she'd nap around noon. She's 28 months and still takes an afternoon nap...anywhere from 1.5-3hrs. Shes just now pushing back the time to 1:30/2 Chat Icon
