DD is still young but I don't know what I should start calling the vagina? We will start potty training soon and was just wondering . What do you tell your DC it's called?

Ditto to all of the PP's. We have 2 boys (almost 5 and just 3) and an 8 month old girl. We've always told our boys the correct terms (penis, testicles, etc.) when they've asked. When their sister was born, naturally the questions arose about her parts, and we've taught them those names too. We'll do the same for her as she gets older and starts to ask.

Penis and vagina.

I remember reading that it's important to teach them the real words, bc sexual predators tend to use cutesy names. So if your kids stated calling her vagina her cupcake out of nowhere, that could be an alert...plus I think it deters predators if the child is well informed about their body.

We call it a peepee.
Breasts are breasts.
I have no problem calling things by their names, but penis and vagina just sound weird describing a 3 year old.

We call them by their real names. DD is always asking me what my breasts are lol. I tell her they're breasts

Well as far as potty training since that's what you asked about, I wouldn't say vagina since that's not where you pee from anyway so I'm not sure what I'd say if I had a girl. When I was a kid my mom would call it a peach (YUCK BARF when I think about that now).

DS is in a phase where he points to things & wants to know what they're called... I tell him either penis or peepee. When he grabs at my boobs I call them boobs because that's just what I call them informally, when he gets older I'll tell him the correct term is breasts.

I've read that you're supposed to call them by their right names. No cutesy names. Something about shame or something, but I can't quite remember.
With that said...my DD knows the words vagina & breasts. I also call her vagina a "tutti" and my boobs "titties", so she knows those words too. I'm prob confusing the heck out of her.

I don't have a problem using the real words and now that my DD is older (6) we use them more but when she was tiny we just used more cutesy words. Most that she came up with to be honest. I don't see an issue with it, I've never met a grown woman who still calls her vagina a "cootie" or a grown man refer to his penis as a "peesh-ka-dell".

In our house...................

Penis = peesh or peesh-ka-dell (according to DD "butt stick")

Vagina = cootie or coo-cha-a-lada (according to DD "front butt")

My DD always referred to her vagina as her "front butt" because to her, it looked the same as her butt, only in the front. Because she thought of her front as the butt too, when she did see a penis for the first time (little baby) she called it a "butt stick".

i refer to his rear end as bum because butt is just ugly sounding to me lol the british have it right with that term!

We say peepee, tushie, boobies, but out of ideas to use for a girl's parts :). These are what we call them anyway. I feel harsh saying vagina bc its not a very pleasant word, even though that's what its called. He just turned 3, so Ill give him the real names as we talk more

I'm pretty sure DD knows what they are called but she calls everything privates, probably bc we stressed so much how no one but mommy and daddy are supposed to see them.

DH decided without me knowing to teach DD to call it a coocah (no idea how to spell it) apparently that's what they called it on the jersey shore i told her its called her vagina and she knows that but still calls it her coocah

I refer to it has private parts though.
