my rant for the day,,,

I am almost at the end of the probation period for my new job and I think I hate it. Not the work but some of the people, especially when my director is out because the want a be director is nasty, unprofessional and bulling. Its sad to watch how desperate she is to be in that position.

my body and mind don't need this shit!!! Im too tired for the BS

Re: my rant for the day,,,

Co-workers can make or break a position IMHO.

Constant negativity is so toxic, as is working with people who are super competitive like that.

I remember some of your recent posts and you have not seemed too happy with this place.

Do what you need to do, but also don't feel bad if moving on is an option ;).

my rant for the day,,,

Many years ago I took a job that I had originally turned down. I knew it wasn't going to be the right spot for me, but the heads of the department kept calling and convinced me that it would be what I wanted. Within 6 months I was miserable and started looking for something new.

If you know it's not a place you are going to be happy at, start looking for something else and don't feel bad about it.

I'm so sorry!!! Coworkers make or break your job, I totally agree with PP. I was in a position for almost 3 years, and the last year was horrible, the person I worked with daily and very closely took my getting married as a personal attack on her (she became very jealous) and she was bullying and harassing me constantly. I brought it up to the practice administrator and subsequently lodged a formal complaint with ADP. It was 6 months almost to the day that they let me go. She was gone shortly after. I honestly probably did have a wrongful termination suit against them, but I didn't want to waste the time. It was the WORST year of work I've ever had. Getting let go was the best thing that happened to me.

Re: my rant for the day,,,

This was me about a year and a half ago.

I loved my job. LOVED IT. It was wonderful. Then, we got a new director - I was a director and then there was an executive director. And my old executive director was wonderful. He retired. The new guy came on and was HORRIBLE.

The whole office was so close and got along so well - it was the best working environment. It was like a family. And it pulled a complete 180! I believe that everything trickles down from the person in charge -- attitude, outlook, toxicity, etc.

And because he was SO horrible, so nasty, so toxic, and a complete hypocrite who was jealous of his own employees --- everyone started acting like assssholes. It was unreal.

I came home and told my boyfriend, I need to find something else. And because I had loved it so much it was very sad for me because it was like a death - it went from amazing to horrible so fast.

I am not usually the type to be ballsy but I was SO miserable there I got my resume professionally done and went RIGHT UP to the major contacts I had made through my job --- while still working there. And I basically marketed myself - they knew me from that company and that I could do ABC... So I said, listen, why don't you consider hiring me to do ABC and also XYZ for YOU instead of the company I'm with.

And it PAID OFF. Ballsy and all - I received word shortly after going full court and putting myself out there that one of the powers that be from another organization who had seen my work all along with the company I was miserable with wanted to hire me. He set up a meeting, hired me on the spot, and I've been there and THRILLED ever since.

What made me realize that getting the horrible executive director was a blessing in disguise is that not only did I get a job I love much more - I now get a pension that I did not have before and much, much more money salary-wise. The health benefits are much better too.

So, I realize now WHY it was meant to be and no longer mourn the way the job was when I loved it.

Anyway - The point is, I suggest you do the same. Put yourself out there. It takes being miserable to sometimes motivate you to find better.

In a similar situation. Not with the staff, but taking on a new job that I'm not feeling great about, so I can sympathize. Hang in there!

TY everyone. thought this would be the job that would allow me to move forward with many things financially including IVF or other baby making options. I just want to be a mom. I was working 7 full days a week before this job, now its 6. I finally took the next three Sunday's off (losing $$) so I can rest and catch my breath. Now Im sorry I did.

I have had no health insurance since March, if I find another job I will be on probation w/o coverage even longer. If only $$ would drop from the sky :)

I tried to have a conversation regarding this issue today with my director (again). I think she is very passive. I know this person has been known to attack our director during meetings (prior to me joining the team)

I received a few canvas letters last week, for the State. I will keep my ears open to other openings. I am just tired of looking. My last company filed for CHapter 11 so I was happy when I found this job

I know this isn't what you want to hear but is there any way you can power through it and ignore the toxic behavior?

I've been at my job for a year now and I don't like it. I've been looking for months. Interview a lot but the right fit hasn't come up. It's a combination of I don't like the work and I don't like a lot of the people. I just ignore the Richard heads and chat with the nice ones.

But I sympathize. It sucks to wake daily and feel miserable.

I'm so sorry that is a horrible position to be in!!!!! Always go with your gut, if you have to move on so be it. If you can put your head down and just do what you have to do then ok too. Just realize that stress really affects the body negatively.

I'm in the opposite situation regarding the co workers. I have a GREAT team, it's the work that's really killing me. Resumes are out.

No, it is not the same as a temp agency. It is a person/company that helps with permanent job placement. They usually have clients that they have contracts with--the companies provide listings and the headhunter will do all the leg work looking for candidates a they prescreen the candidates- depending on your field the next set is usually to interview with the company--you can find recommendations online- what field are you in?
