My new furbaby! I can come on this board again!
My heart has been broken since the loss of my chihuahua Luigi 2 years ago. He had died of Leukemia a year after being diagnosed. He was on medicine for a year and they thought it was working. He died quite suddenly and I swore I would never get another pet again.
I have been to pets stores. I have seen cute puppies and I knew my heart wasn't ready to love an animal the way I had loved Luigi.
I loved that little 5 lb mush like he was my own kid. I had him the year I graduated college and found out the he was so sick a month before my son Justin was born. Justin only got to play with him for a short time. The saddest words came from my son when he was looking for him the day after he died. Justin said "WeeeeGee" and couldn't find him.
This Halloween I walked into the International Kennel Club in East Meadow with my Dh, my son, and my mom. We were just walking in to show my son the cute puppies. I swore I would never buy a pet from a pet store like that again. Well.....
I saw the cutest puppy. I feel she was sent from above by Luigi to let me know that he was OK . She stole my heart! I kept thinking about her and convinced my DH to let us get her. She looks very similar to my precious Luigi. Luigi was tan and white and this little baby is black and white.
She came home last night and we named her Lucia Bella. I have slipped a few times calling her Luigi.
I pray to God that she lives a long healthy life!

She is special and I wish you many years of of health and happiness.. I can relate to loving your dog so much it is insane.. But just enjoy her and dont think about the things that happened to your pervious baby.. I know how hard it is..  Now this is a very very lucky little girl!!!

I understand how she stole your heart, she is very cute.
What is the International Kennel Club in East Meadow? Is it a pet store? Of course I wish you luck and health for her regardless, but I just wish you woulda passed on the pet store (see above thread pinned at top), not to be a downer.

Regardless of whether or not she came from a pet store you welcomed her into your home! She is adorable. I do remember you posting a while back about Luigi....and I think Lucia looks like him a little, no?

Yay! Congratulations!!! She's so cute!!!
I would look into Pet Insurance this time around to help out with anything that might come your way... even regular yearly updates.

I agree with Goober on this one too...
While I'm happy you have a new puppy I, too, wish you would have reconsidered where you got her from.
But nonetheless, you have her and she's adoreable. I would recommend getting the pet health insurance just in case some health problems come up with her. You run a greater risk of this happening since she is from a pet store.

Congrats on the puppy!! Not to be a downer, just an FYI, my sister bought a dog there too, and although they claimed they treated him for worms, he has been throwing up/diarrhea and when they brought him to the vet they said they believed he was never treated. She got the dog about a month ago. Just make sure he is in good health, and I'm not sure if you have kids in the house, but to protect them too. Good luck with the new addition to your family

I just had Lucia all checked out at my vet and so far she looks great. No worms and everything else looks good. She is a perfect little angel.
