More on Freddy
My sister in law (his ex) went there today to see him with his younger son and her sister (they are twins). Her sister cut his hair since she's a hairdresser. He was still on his oxygen mask and he asked "what happened to me?" ...excuse me? ...he spoke..he asked what happened to me. So her sister told her a very high level overview of what happened and he understood some of it I guess. I am so excited that he spoke..you have no idea!!! That means his speech center of his brain is working. Maybe not 100%-only time will tell, but holy crap..
I never thought it would get this far.
Tomorrow I will be there early to see his neurologist. I saw his surgeon today and he was happy about his progress. The nurses who saw him early on are amazed and thrilled for him.
He's got a long road. I hope he can handle the rehab. The nurses told us that one of the reasons for his progress is our support. Now I feel like all the worry, tears, stomach aches, sleepless nights and numerous trips and calls to the hospital were worth it. I will sleep tonight knowing he is progressing.
He was sad to see them go tonight and they were there for a few hrs.
BTW-His ex-wife takes the prize. She has been amazing throughout this whole thing. She continues to amaze me. Just when I was about to give up and when I felt I couldn't carry on, she would spin it around and make me feel more positive. Kudos to her. She's my hero.

I know it's not everything yet, but we are all very hopefull that he continues to improve. Mostly, I'm concerned about his state of mind.
I'm going to get the social workers and psych people on him asap. Also, the surgeon is getting the prosthetic people to start the ball rolling.

Yea Freddy!!!! I am so Happy your brother spoke... it is amazing and i tell ya the prayer of prayer is great and miracles do happen, look at your brother and the progress he has made and still is making. I still continue to pray for freddy.

I'm so happy for you that he is getting better each day & that you (& he) have the support of your ex-SIL.
After seeing my SIL with a failing liver & on a respirator last year, I was hoping you would get a miracle. Looks like you did!
