Mom's Mental Load - thoughts?
I'm a sahm, but I joke with dh I'm the CEO of this family. Drs appointments. Medical forms for school. Everything related to school and camp for that matter. Groceries. The list goes on and on.

Re: Mom's Mental Load - thoughts?
I do.everything for school for DS ( homework, making sure she has what she needs for special days...[wear blue, bring a favorite game, book fair money etc])
But he does all the cooking and most of the the cleaning.
He stays home and I work though so we have a bit of a role reversal.
I am also a slob, lazy, and not like your typical woman by any stretch so there is that too......

Re: Mom's Mental Load - thoughts?
This is so very accurate. My DH does a lot but never realizes it's all in my head to manage. And he says he can't be a mind reader - to just ask. I'm like seriously?! Open your eyes!
Even when we are getting the girls out of the house, I'm director : what they need to wear, where their shoes and sweaters are, what to pack in the diaper bag. He'll do it.... but it's in my head...

Mom's Mental Load - thoughts?
Same! My DH is very very helpful, but there's the little things, laundry, changing out clothes, restocking diapers. I take them to their DRs apt monthly alone now. We used to go together all the time but I'm back at work and I work 3 evenings from 3-7 and he has the kids and then 2 longer days and my mom watches them. I arrange the baby sitting schedule, the household schedule for them. My one son gets PT in the middle of the day so I have to make sure I kee my flexible schedule at work to be home for that, now my other son will be receiving speech. My one twin also has a slew of doctors, gastro and now ENT, audio etc and is going for many hearing tests and stuff. He also is on prescription formula I arrange for all this stuff. I'm still battling my insurance with NICU bills I spend my days on the phone I feel like. Our dog also requires medication and routine vet visits and I take care of those too. Like I said he's very very helpful but all these things, I do

Mom's Mental Load - thoughts?
i saw this going around on Facebook- and i completely agree with it!!!! As much as DH helps, I completely carry the mental load of all of it, and run the household. there are SO many things that he doesn't think about. our family all lives a few hours away, so that adds a whole new level to it. DH is HORRIBLE about keeping in touch with his parents- so his mom will send me emails saying hi, looking for updates on our boys. I tell DH i don't have time for that!! its HIS family- he can keep in touch with them- i have enough to do already!! BUT, he doesn't, so i end up looking bad :-/ its just all those little things that add up! he will do things around the house, but i have to tell him/ point them out. it drives me nuts! he has a master's degree in engineering-- i'm sure he can figure out what needs to be done to get 2 kids out of the house!!

Mom's Mental Load - thoughts?
Ahh this is the reason I keep saying to DH that I need to be a SAHM lol. It's just too much to manage. The kids, our schedules, our house, the dog, etc. plus commute and work full time. DH is a phenomenal provider, but I tell him all the time he has no idea the amount of planning and management it takes to keep our family running.

Yes! DH does a lot and will do what is asked, but doesn't think about what else. I'm like how do you think snacks get packed, appts get made, school and camp forms filled out, and a million other things?!?!?
I always say I'm like Oz in the wizard of Oz. I keep it all going but he has no idea what's going on behind the curtain

Same here. It's like my DH is oblivious to the mess. If I ask him to do something, he'll do it, but he very rarely does it unprompted.

Lol me too. If shit doesn't get done, it doesn't get done. So far nobody has died from some dishes in the sink or a missing birthday card

Mom's Mental Load - thoughts?
Also to add that my DH is an only child- raised by a sahm. ( Nit knocking sahm- I am one!! Lol) But he was never made to do ANY house stuff. He was told his job was to do well in school, and that's it!! Even as a 20/22 year old, he lived at home for college. She would do his laundry, food it, put it away fir him. Serve him snacks while he was doing his school stuff.... unbelievable! I mean, to a point it worked- he got a masters in engineering and now he a 6-figure job LOL. BUT he has no idea how to multitask, because he was never taught how to! I'm a little tough on my boys because of that lol I don't want their future wives to be the ones handling it all...
