Re: MMR - did you or didn't you delay?
Jack got the MMR when he turned a year. I wanted to delay it but we were going to Italy and obviously wanted him vaccinated.
Tyler will be getting it this month (15 months) because we are going on a cruise.
In my perfect world I would have given it to them at 18 months but we go on too many vacations

Re: MMR - did you or didn't you delay?
we delayed the MMR to 2yo because at the time we were in the midst of getting DS evaluated for delays and I didn't want to chance anything before I knew what was going on.
At the end of the day I knew I wanted to give him all of his vaccinations, it is just so scary when you're already looking down a path of a potential autism diagnosis to not be cautious.
My ped had told me he would be ok delaying until 2yo. And then in NJ there are laws about being in a school setting and needing all your vaccinations up to date. They told me that I had to do it by the time he was 2 or he would not be able to return to school. So we did it at 2yo.
In my opinion it did not effect my DS at all. His delays were there before the MMR. They were not changed after receiving the MMR.

Re: MMR - did you or didn't you delay?
Was going to delay it but we were going on a cruise right after DS bday. Per Ped rec and his schedule Xavier got the shot a week after turning 1.

Re: MMR - did you or didn't you delay?
I delayed until 2 years old.
Ped gives it at 15 months.
I chose to delay due to all the "vaccines & autism studies" (which I clearly know have since been recanted).
With all those stories floating around....DS did not have any words yet.....I felt uncomfortable.
Ped was fine especially since DS is not in day care....he is the only baby at the sitter.

Re: MMR - did you or didn't you delay?
DD will be delayed b/c we are playing catch up. She was a preemie so I delayed a bit early on until she put some weight on. She was so tiny I didn't want her having more than two a visit. She also gets synagis once a month to prevent rsv and it is a painful shot so I make them do that alone. I am thinking she will get the mmr no later than her 2bd bday. I will split it and the chicken pox vaccine though. She is 9 months but only about 15 lb so I dont like to overwhelm her system.

delayed until 2. I would have went longer but the meds he is on make him more vulnerable to measles.
reason: I like Jenny McCarthy books and I don't care what anyone says about her.

Our ped gives it at 18mths - and we plan on getting it. IMHO there is no reason to delay.

DS got it at 15 months. Did not delay, separate, and gave it the same time as CP. No reaction.

Re: MMR - did you or didn't you delay?
I chose to delay DS' MMR. The ped wanted to give it yesterday for his 15 month apptmt. I did give him the chicken pox.
While medicine and the CDC are theoretically always acting in our best interest, experience has proven that no individual or agency is infallible and in fact harm has come to certain individuals from ingesting/receiving medications, vaccines. etc which were at some point considered safe and/or recommended.
My gut told me not to give it yet. I went with that. I've read the studies and the journal articles with a critical eye as I am a researcher given my profession but sometimes all that does not replace a mother's intuition. In the end it's about doing what I am comfortable with, regardless of whether it makes sense to someone else. The ped didn't fight me on it.

I delayed.
I'm not set on either one way being right or wrong, but I just did what I was comfortable with.

Did not delay with Ava and will not delay with Chase. We've followed the ped's schedule with both kids.

Re: MMR - did you or didn't you delay?
I delayed the MMR with Rylan until his 2 year appointment. My reason was he wasn't talking at all...had NO words. I honestly believe the MMR has nothing at all to do with Autism but I never wanted to have a "what if" moment. He said his first word at 22 months and slowly continued from there so I had him vaccinated at his next well visit.
I think Xavier will be getting it whenever the ped recommends it. He can repeat anything you say so i'm assuming he'll be talking at a normal age.
