Milestone Reached!
This is not to toot my own horn but jus to share a journey with everyone.
Back in March 2010, DH and I decided that we wanted to have children and want to start trying in June 2011.
At that point in time I was 274lbs (yes I was that heavy!) and also diabetic and taking 5 medications to control it. I have been overweight most of my life- I chalk it up to living with my grandmother since I was 10- she was very old school in having you eat what's on your plate and not leaving the table without the plate cleaned. I never learned how to control portions and also what I was eating since most of the time she let me eat whatever I wanted to, and whenever I wanted to.
I told DH that not only being diabetic, but so overweight that I was scared to be pregnant as it can cause many complications. We talked it over and I decided to seek help in the ways of an endocronologist. We thought that I might have issues with my thyroid and that our regular doctor was overlooking something. Turns out that there was no thyroid problem.
I started to see the endocronologist literally the day after our 2nd wedding anniversary in March. I started the diet and excercise plan the very next day. The first goal the doctor set was that he wanted me to lose 50lbs before the end of the year in December.
I went for weigh-ins every two weeks since then - I was amazed when I saw that my weight loss for the first two weeks being 15lbs! Talk about motivation!
The first weeks and months were the hardest and I'm not going to lie, I did cheat but afterwards I started to feel guilty! Now as time has gone by things have gotten easier of course.
DH became really proud once I was halfway (25lbs) to my first goal of losing 50lbs before the end of December.
Now 7 months later I feel as though I'm a whole new person. I am now 50lbs down as of today, and finally down to taking NO medications. I went down 4 pant sizes and in general I can feel like I can conquer the world.
I just wanted to share this with everyone to say that if you believe in yourself you can accomplish your goals of weight loss. I'm currently working my way down another 50lbs and hopefully by June 2011 I'll be at that benchmark which will total 100lbs down in a bit more than a year.

wow that's amazing. congrats  such an inspiration. thank you for sharing that. you seem so motivated and you should be so proud of yourself. that is such a great accomplishment.

Oh my gosh this is amazing! I am so happy for you! Thank you for sharing your story and I congratulate you on your achievements and for wanting to be a healthier person, especially before having a baby! Keep up the good work and keep us updated!!!

Congrats to you!!! Remember to keep focusing on small goals and not to stress over the big numbers. Before you know it you will hit the 100 pound mark.

That is amazing! One of the best things you can do for you children is to take care of yourself-for you to do this so that you can lead a healthy life and start a family of your own is inspirational!

Thanks everyone for the support!
It's greatly appreciated and as of today I'm almost another 5lbs down so soon it will be another 45lbs to go. Can't wait to see that.
I've been taking it 5lbs at a time figuring it's like taking baby steps.
I feel absolutely great- it's like a whole new me.

congratulation for all the reasons stated!
you're already showing that you'll be a wonderful mother. you're doing what needs to be done for the sake of your future child(ren).
i loved reading that you're off your meds and that your DH has been a wonderful support.

I was actually looking through some photos the other day and was just appalled on how I looked back then!
What I look like now is my avatar pic- but definitley when I'm home I'll post something to show the difference.
Also I'm going to be going on the scale soon so I'll know the new total...can't wait to break 199 and I'll be nothing short of thrilled!
And thanks for the compliment on already being a wonderful mom-
