I think they should ( I don't use it) ,but I think it should be treated like alcohol ( laws and all) ! We could tax it .

I totally agree.

To me I have seen much worse things transpire involving drunk people.

I know very few, um actually NONE, violent stoners Chat Icon

I hear the whole gateway drug arguement, but counter that alcohol is ALSO a gateway drug.

I get inhaling smoke is NOT healthy, ummm neither are ciggs, they are probably worse Chat Icon

For *some* people pot can be a relaxing way to destress, the way a glass of wine is for me.

It is so common and prevelent among us it seems STUPID for the US NOT to tax and make money off it...IMO of course Chat Icon

Re: Marijuana: Legalize it or Not?

not sure.

before I would have said yes, tax that ish and let's make some money.

but the drug war going on in Mexico (and spilling into our country as well as others) just makes me violently ill.

and I am not sure that making in legal (and perhaps increasing demand) would help that war in the long run.

so, I guess I just don't know.

Re: Marijuana: Legalize it or Not?

Yes. Up to a certain amount (5grams), like the Netherlands.

However, I don't know if that would work in the US. It's like socialised medicine, I don't know how well it would work in the US.

Yes!!! I bet that if we could tax it, we'd be able to pay off the deficit and fund the "bailout" within 5 years.

I agree.

I also agree with the poster that said to treat it like alcohol. The only problem would be instances like where you're testing someone for driving under the influence. Maybe there's a test i dont know about, but from what i know about testing for marijuana use, it usually shows up if its been in your system for 30 days or less. They'd need to come up with a way to test if it was used that day, etc.

Re: Marijuana: Legalize it or Not?

i have mixed feelings...

when i think of people who smoke everyday and are lazy potheads i think it should be illegal - just b/c it makes me scared of our whole society becoming burnouts...that is scary!

but the amount of people who do it and how often they do it would probably stay the same....i think??

i don't think i see anything wrong with using marijuana once in awhile, just like drinking alcohol once in awhile is okay...

ehh i'm not sure...it would be nice to be able to do it though and not worry about getting into trouble with the law, your job, etc. - not that i have to worry about that! hahahaha

Re: Marijuana: Legalize it or Not?

I'm for legalization of ALL drugs that are currently illegal. You wouldn't be having the types of issues in Arizona and other border states if you could go to a "Pharmacy" and buy these drugs legally. No to mention how much safer they would be for the user at least in terms of purity. Think of all the money the government would make.

Re: Marijuana: Legalize it or Not?

I vote yes, legalize it...and tax it and regulate it.

However, there will still exist a black market for the "good" stuff.

Yes, and tax it.

BUT then I also wonder if there will be a spike in cancers caused by marijuana. We're already screwed because of cigarettes and obesity. Then again, I also think that legalization won't matter in terms of creating new users- for example, I would not use it if it became legal. Probably most people who use it don't care that it's illegal.
