"Madame Speaker"

Regardless of whether I like Nancy Pelosi or not, or what her party affiliation is, I have to say I was very excited to hear the words, "Madame Speaker" at the beginning of the State of the Union address last night. It made me grateful for the strong women who have gone before me and have worked so hard to get where they are in life and their careers.

Re: "Madame Speaker"

it was great, i agree.

however she definitely hammed it up too much on the border of unprofessional.

she needed to tone it down a little, imho.

but hearing madame was great.

I agree. I hope one day we hear Madame President, though I'm not particularly wild for Hillary to be it. Just want to hear it.

What would they call a female president's husband by the way? First Man? First Gentleman?

Re: "Madame Speaker"

I was talking to my mom about how moving it was to hear "Madam Speaker" my mom said something like "Get over it" and I said "it's such an amazing thing" and she said "I am not a women's libber" Chat Icon
