that is very shady behavior. Those people are lying for no gain at all. It would be story telling, and then how would anyone know the real you anyway.

depends on your definition of lying...
I'm sure that when people come on here to vent about something, we're only hearing 1 side of the story...I bet if the other person involved in a situation could respond, we'd hear a few more details that we hadn't heard before

I don't wonder...I assume that at least a few people do or have.
My guess is that the most common lie is not really that much of a lie but a "lie of omission"... where someone doesn't tell the whole story.
For instance: "I had a salad for lunch" but 'forget' to mention the bag of chips and soda and chocolate bar. Truth...but not the whole truth.
