Low Lying Placenta....

I had my 19 week sonogram last night. Everything went well except that my bean wouldn't uncross it legs! I'm going back in next Wednesday for a sneak peek! Hopefully he/she will be more cooperative!!

When my dr. looked at the sonogram pics, he said the baby is sitting breech and that I have a low lying placenta. He isn't worried about it right now because it can correct itself - I just wondered if anyone else had this, and what your experience was. THANKS!!!

Re: Low Lying Placenta....

I have a low lying placenta they say that they move and if they don't they have to induce you and have a c-section. My placenta is starting to move so i am happy. I am 32 1/2 weeks and they say i should be able to go with out a c-section. They will keep an eye on it over the next few weeks to see if it moves. Best of luck.

Re: Low Lying Placenta....

My friend has a similar (if not the same) condition called placenta previa. Her baby is also breech and her placenta lies low/covers her cervix. Her doctor also assured her that it does have time to move and that it is more common than you think (she's 22 weeks)

Re: Low Lying Placenta....

I was also told at my 19 week sonogram that I had a low lying placenta, and if it didnt move I would have to have a c-section...

Im now 26 weeks and they havent checked to see if its moved yet..so I dont know, but I was told most of the time it does...

The DR had put me on pelvic rest, and just told me to take it easy...however as long as I had no spotting or anything he wasnt too worried...

I did the same exact thing (post right on LIF) asking the same questions when I found outChat Icon thank god we have eachother...

Re: Low Lying Placenta....

They have been checking me a lot. I was checked at 25 weeks and at 30 weeks and then now i am going for a sono gram every 2 weeks. I would ask your doctor when they are going to check you again.

My 20 weeks sono (level II) also told me I had a low lying placenta. So my doc waited and did another sono at 32 weeks and because the uterus grows, the placenta moves with it, and I was fine. THe only problem was that Andrew never turned, so I had a c/s because he was breech.

I think my DR is doing the same...my next apt. I will be 28 or 29 weeks...and thats not a sono apt...

so im assuming it'll be done at the following which will also be 32 weeks...

is it bad they are waiting so long???

I don't think it's bad to wait either. My dr. wasn't too concerned about it at this point. He said he would wait and see at the 32 week sono when your uterus is supposed to grow and hopefully move everything up.
