I thought it had to do with your skin pigmentation. Women who are fair don't have that extra pigment in their skin and don't get it, and darker-skinned ladies do, so they do.
I thought this too, but my belly is very fair. I do tan though but I'm not dark by any means.
nope, Im super fair and I had it. its caused by hormones.

very interesting. I had a linea nigra with DS & not one stretch mark.

I got mine at about 21 weeks. It's not too dark, thank god! But it does come above my belly button - halfway between my belly button and sternum! Team  , so we'll wait and see!

I'm ...but I have both linea negra from top to bottom on my belly, and a ton of stretch marks. Lucky me!!

considering my DH calls me casper (the friendly ghost) and I had it at 15 weeks, I have to say thats not true
