No matter who you voted for, who you support...the KKK is always wrong. Why is that even a discussion?
As President-elect, Trump needs to shut that sh*t down, fast. He may have been reluctant to denounce them before for fear of losing votes, but now he needs to make a public statement that this is not acceptable here. And, make no mistake, this isn't me saying the violent anti-trump protesters are any better. But, he fueled this fire, so he is now responsible for dousing some of the flames.

Why is it assumed that because a group endorsed a candidate that the candidate endorses the group? Like the KKK supports Donald Trump but how do we know that Donald Trump supports what the KKK stands for. And this could be said for any candidate, just using the obvious right now. - as I said in another thread, he retweets white supremacy groups and individuals. Maybe he doesn't realize where these tweets come from, but he should, I feel.
- he played very coy when David Duke first expressed support for him, refusing to denounce him and saying he didn't know David Duke or know anything about him. Both were later proved false.
- Since he won there have been numerous accounts of violence against people of color, along with this parade. I find it hard to believe that he and more so the people around him don't know any of this. And yes, maybe some is fake. But I bet more incidents are real than not. For someone who loves Twitter so much, and noticed the protests, I think he should condemn these events.
So maybe he's not specifically endorsing these groups but he does not seem to have a problem with them either.
This....I doubt he "doesn't know" who the white supremists are.

Like I just said, HE never denounced it....His "campaign" did. And as for "the media" hyping this up a previous post, not yours), the KKK has not (to my knowledge) been so active until recently. I am Jewish, my husband is hispanic, my children are mixed, my friends and family members are LGBT...I am concerned and have EVERY right to be.

I dont want it from a spokesman.
I want a Breaking News story with him standing at a podium saying I dont want my name associated with such a group and I find it appalling they are using my name and my position in any way. I dont support it or them and I want it to stop.
But Im sure thats asking too much

I do not think that all Trump supporters are racist but sadly some are and he is. Oh the stories I've heard over the years from people who worked in his homes. So sadly I'm not surprised we are hearing from a spokesman and not him..

NO ONE on this thread said anything about all Trump supporters being racists. In fact if you read my responses, you will see that I specifically said otherwise. But you cannot deny that hate groups and racists do feel empowered to be more outspoken about their hateful views since the rise of Trump. The OP said she is frightened - by increased KKK activity - and that is a valid fear. She did NOT say she is afraid of Trump supporters. But as a Trump supporter, maybe you could try to be reassuring to someone who has fear, instead of belittling her concerns

As a minority, I despise the Klan as much or more than any of you.
But as an American, I know that we can despise others' speech, but we HAVE to defend everyone's right to free speech. That's what the whole enterprise of our country and our freedoms are all about.
The ACLU is full of Jewish and other minority lawyers that despise and loathe hate speech, but work each day to ensure that they can engage in it peaceably without being arrested or restrained.
Now, again, the CONSEQUENCES of exercising your right to engage in hateful speech.... those can and should keep coming. I hope people understand the difference.
We should all defend all free speech. We should also demand that Trump denounce the Klan's. We should also demand that he denounce the hate crimes that are occurring in his name.

You may not have racist, misogynist, xenophobic intent, but you have had racist, misogynist, xenophobic impact.
Impact > intent.
So when you get called racist, misogynist, and xenophobic -- understand that your actions have enabled racism, misogyny, and xenophobia in the highest halls of our federal government, regardless of why you voted for him.
You have to own this. You don't get to escape it because your feelings are hurt that people are calling you names. You may have felt like you had no other choice; you may have felt like he was genuinely the best choice for reasons that had nothing to do with hate.
But you have to own what you have done: you have enabled racism, misogyny, and xenophobia.
Impact > intent. Always.

Wow....I never said trump supporters are racist and if you go and look at my threads, you will never see that. I do, however, think TRUMP is racist, and while he "says" that he wants everyone to work together, he is sure not doing anything to make that happen. HE has not done anything to MAKE THINGS GREAT, like he promises. HE has not done anything to assuage our fears that all will be ok. AND that is NOT ok with me. And while hate speech is technically fine in the constitution, violent acts are not. AND THE KKK HAS PERFORMED VIOLENT ACTS IN MY LIFETIME!!! In the 80's a black people were killed. In 1997 a klan member was put to death because of acts that he committed. This is a real threat. And until the President-elect, not some minion of his, makes a statement saying that it is a terrorist organization that is NOT accepted, I (and many others) will continue to think that HE is racist (along with many other choice words).

He isn't outright addressing these hate crimes being committed in his honor, and as president elect he absolutely is the one who should be. Not his camp, not a spokesperson, not his kid, not Obama, not Clinton. Him. El cheeto himself. How long is he going to let this go on before he comes out and denounces it? He came out and finally addressed the protesters, but he did not reassure them that all would be ok and that he will work his azz off to undo the damage his campaign did. Instead, he patronized them. He has shown and continues to show in every single conceivable way possible that he is unfit for this job and for the role of peaceful, diplomatic leader. He has shown he is incapable of reuniting a nation split in half. Until he comes out and disavows their hate crimes, we can reasonably construe his silence as a nod of approval.
People have a legitimate fear for their safety and well-being. No one gets to dismiss their fears. Most certainly not the people that helped elect him to power (regardless of their reasoning).

I have never wrote anything bad to anyone for liking someone who gives money to our enemy, and you all say that he is ant-gay/lesbian?? I dont know where that comes from, but then you support someone who gives money to countries that throw gays/lesbians off clifffs . So how is that not the same??

It comes from him selecting a person who has advocated and supported conversion therapy, including shock therapy, for LGBTQ+ as the Vice President, someone who is a heartbeat away from the presidency. What happens in other countries is horrendous but let's be honest- it doesn't directly affect the LGBTQ+ citizens of this country. Pence as vp and possibly president does.
