kinda freaking out *beta updated again*
2nd update: my beta only went up to 29, so my numbers are still climbing, yet i'm really just waiting to miscarry so i can start IVF and hoping i don't start developing a follicle before i get that chance. so yeah, worst possible outcome, of course. great.
update: so i went for my beta today, and when i talked to the dr. afterward he basically said he expected my beta to come back negative today and then we started talking about how we would proceed with the IVF protocol as long as that happened.
and then i got my beta results back: went up from 13 to 22. so m a y b e pregnant...but still maybe just a chemical and more waiting. back on friday for levels again.
so i went for my CD3 appt today after getting AF (light, but there) and a BFN on a HPT.
they did my bloodwork and i came back with a beta of 13, which i know is super low for 16dpiui. so now i'm not starting the IVF protocol because i have to go back in on wednesday for another beta to see what the numbers are doing.
yet they did a sono, measured my lining, looked at my ovaries and no suspicion of pregnancy? no sign of the corpus luteum? when i miscarried the first time they were able to see that thing all huge on the screen.
if i'm losing a THIRD pregnancy, i swear to god...someone talk me off the ledge. these are going to be the longest 2 days of my life.

i didn't have a miscarriage but had 2 ectopics in a row so i know exactly how you must be feeling - NOT AGAIN!!
it sounds like a chemical pregnancy to me
have you had any testing done for recurrent miscarriage?

Re: kinda freaking out
It sounds like a chemical pregnancy. Exact same thing happened to me - 1st beta indicated 'pregnant' but i got AF and there was nothing on sono. 2nd beta the numbers went down.
there's nothing there to see on the sono.. you just have leftover hcg in your system from it.
im sorry..

Re: kinda freaking out
yeah it does sound very much like chemical. i had two. have you had immune or thrombophilia testing done?
if you are only 16DPIUI there wouldnt be anything to see on a sono, other than maybe a thinner lining. if your beta never really rose or doesnt rise then the lining deteriorates pretty quickly. anyway stranger things have happened - you NEVER know - so

i know they did some tests for immune and clotting problems, i just don't know how deep that kind of testing can go. he did a huge panel when i initially went in for the monitoring cycle to look for a cause of recurrent m/c (hormones, immune, clotting, genetics, etc.). i followed up and asked if he tested for that and he said yes. everything was normal and he told me i just had really bad luck.
so if you lose 3 pregnancies, what is that? really REALLY bad luck?
i think i have to gather up my lab work and get a 2nd opinion before i start gambling with a finite number of chances at IVF.

Re: kinda freaking out
I'm sorry. Chemical pregnancies stink. Such a tease. If we weren't all trying and monitoring so much, we probably would never know when we had them, because we would just get AF and move on. I seem to be a weirdo, b/c I had my chemical last year with a high beta of 269, and the nurse said, "there's definitely something in there." She was wrong.

Re: kinda freaking out *beta update*
are you on progesterone? do you know if your dr ran your blood work for progesterone? that can also give you an idea of what's going on.
