i will probably have her get a first mani and pedi when she is 2 - most people i know who have a dd got it done than just because they can sit still for a bit to get it done

I don't think it's "trashy"  but just as some PP's, I'd be worried about when my child is chewing on her fingers & the polish comes off in her mouth.

Chloe got her first mani when she turned 3. She loves going. She loves getting the sparkly nail polish and she is such good girl too!!!

I don't have a problem with it as long as it's an "older" toddler, like 3+ and as long as it's not during school season .
DD will be 4 in a couple of weeks , I just painted her finger nails for the very first time 2 weeks ago. I was doing my nails , she asked and I said ok BUT I told her : just this one time and only bc it's summer, won't be doing it any other time.
Even though I don't have a problem with kids having painted nails I would never take DD to get her nails done at a salon (I don't even take her when I get MY nails done, she has never been at a nail salon) when she is older -sure, but not any time soon...
I do have to say seeing how excited she was wearing the same nail polish as mommy made my heart melt, that happy smile on her face was priceless and how she was showing off to everyone

Piercing ears is painful and its really not temporary. Even if you dont wear earrings some holes dont close up (like mine).
Painting fingernails is temporary and painless. I really see nothing wrong with it, but my husband does. He feels its for grown up girls and he doesnt want his baby growing up too fast :) So no paint for her

Just out of curiosity....why not during school?
I paint my daughter's nails all the time - she's 4 now, but I've been doing it since she was about 2 1/2 I think. Last year, her nursery school had color weeks, and each week, we painted her nails to coordinate with the color of that week...it was adorable!

DD is 2 and I've never done it and do not plan to.
I just don't see the need. Not judging anyone else who likes it, but I see it as introducing grown up things too soon. She can have her whole life to do this, why push. Also if you start so young, what will they have to look forward to.
I remember 'tinkerbell' clear pink polish when I was about 5 or so and that was enough. I'm not sure I like how polish looks on small children either.
Again, just my $.02

Id be afraid of her ingesting the polish since she seems to have her fingers in her mouth all the time. Abby will be three at the end of August. MAYBE I'd do her toes, but she's darn flexible and can put her feet in her mouth too.

I paint DDs nails-she is almost 4. She is such a girly girl. Light colors only. It's temporary so I don't see the harm.
I don't take her too a salon, not sure the fumes in those places are good for her.

At almost 4, my DD is nnot asking for poliosh on her nails to enhance her beauty. She's asking because she loves pink and purple.

There are non toxic polishes available.
pink also enhances a woman's beauty and attracts attention, but we put pink on babies all the time.
Personally, I wouldn't do it on a baby that had no say, but if the baby said they wanted it, I have no issues with it (with non-toxic nail polish).

Absolute No-No in my book. Not only would I not want chemicals on my little girl's nails but I would also like her to remain a child for as long as she can. There will be plenty of time for all the beauty treatments when she grows up!
She is 4 and loooooves going to the salon with me where she actively participates in choosing my nail polish out of the few I pick out but she KNOWS that little girls don't pain their nails, only grown women do. She is fine with it and is patiently waiting for the time when she "grows boobies" which is the time she knows she will be allowed to paint her nails pink!

I say your kid, your business, but I just won't let DD do it, that's all.

I think it's cute but would only do it on rare occasions.
It's chemicals. The nails don't breath and it traps bacterias. Then you must use alcohol to remove it.

I've been taking my daughters to the nail salon w. me to get their nails done since they were 3. They love it, showing off their nails and matching mommy.
IMO the marketing philosophy “KGOY” — “kids getting older younger” is much more detrimental to keeping them pure and innocent. I say no to so much b.c of it, nail polish....not worth it and fun for all of us.

My daughter, who is very observant and social, is looking forward to having "boobies" so she can "feed her babies" when she grows up. I can't think of a more pure reason to want them nor for a better association for a girl to have with her developing body in the future.

I'd love to get my daughter a pedicure (almost 2). But I dont think she would stand for it.
I do a terrible job cutting those toenails all crooked, I think they would look soo cute in sandals painted pink.
I wouldnt do the hands right now.

My parents were VERY against my getting my nails painted when I was little ESP my feet (dunno why) so I can understand why some people aren't too crazy about it..
With my girls, I have been taking them and I'll do their nails too.. they get so chipped up so quick though that I always make sure to remove the polish if it looks icky.. but if we are going somewhere I'll always polish their nails.
I think it looks adorable and they are always asking me to do it for them..
As for boobies, my kids know what boobies are and they are 2, 4, and 6

Same here. We'll see as she gets older. I think a lot of it has to do with how you were brought up to (just like the ear piercing thing). I was not allowed to paint my nails until I was older and for now, I kind of have the same train of thought and will wait with DD. Honestly, she's almost 2 and there is no way she'd even sit still for a mani and/or pedi. I'm actually impressed that 2 years olds are capable of this . I do think it looks cute though.

I don't think it's trashy but I won't do it because she always has her hands in her mouth and I worry about her sucking on the chemicals in the polish.
And then polish remover to get it off- the fumes are so harsh etc
