Working for dept of sanitation for the summer in special pick up. Our boss was a nightmare.

ii worked at Chock Full O'Nuts (that name STILL makes me giggle ) in high school and i used to come home stinking of coffee!!! to this day i HATE the smell of coffee!!!

I bussed tables for 2 days at this place in Sag Harbor called Johnnys Cove.

I hated doing it, and my friend emptied an ash tray i the trash and it caught on fire! Needless to say, we were asked to leave

Toy store in Park Slope. I swear the owner was a slave driving Nazi. He was insane and made us come in 10 mins before opening 6 days a week without paying us (it added up to an hour!) - if we didnt we were considered showing up late. We spent all day putting prices on boxes and making sure the shelves were stocked neatly. It was maddening. We were not allowed to take a lunch break - had to eat while we worked. It was all off the books too. He paid me 5.00 an hour - this was 12 yrs ago...

One time I wasnt sure it was my day off, but I didnt want to pull a no show. So I decided to arrive at opening time just in case. I came and asked him if it was my day off today. He said, "Yes it is - but if it weren't, you would have been 10 mins late."

I said to him right then and there,
"F uck you. I quit."

the only cool thing was Tori Amos was staying at an apt. nearby for a few days, so I got to see her walking around like a normal person.

I use to work for Dobbs international, it was a food service that delivered Airline food to macarthur airport, But i think they officially went out of business... I hated that place with a Passion.

I work at King Kullen for 1/2 day. It was terrible. Also, only lasted 1 day at a law firm, it was sooo boring, opening up mail.

I was a chef at a restaurant called Tequila Jacks on Fire Island. When I was hired I was basically told that it was going to be the best experience of my life.
It was an extremely hot summer and they didn't even have so much as a fan in the kitchen. The conditions were gross and unsanitary and there were flies EVERYWHERE. Plus, they made me do hours of tedious prep work instead of cooking, like I was supposed to be doing.
I lasted three days and LOST money. I never got paid and I had to pay for parking and to take the ferry there for three days. So I actually paid to work at my worst job ever. I still want the money they owe me and I get mad whenever I think about it.

I worked as a medical biller at a company in Happague, after I got laid off from Morgan Stanley. I lasted 9 months but after the 2nd day I knew this was NOT the place for me...expecially when I had to ask to go to the bathroom...like I was a child in elementary school!! W T F????

My worst job was selling boiler parts for a company...who Serviced the Boilers at Prison's.

I lasted 4 days. I was scared to death to be a Woman going into a Male prison.

I worked in a car insurance office for 2 weeks. The owner was such a azz. He was having an affair with his assistant and anything she did wrong was passed on to us and we all got in trouble.

In college, I worked for a CPA firm. I had to convert all of their old files into microfilm. This means that I sat in a dark room (no lights, blinds drawn, ALONE) because the microfilm machine needed darkness. I had to wrestle with huge industrial staples, trying to pry them off without cutting my fingers, and then take two pieces of paper at a time, lay them straight on the machine, and click a button. Then two more pieces of paper.

This carried on ALL DAY. 8.5 hours. I used to cry every night when I went to bed and every morning when I woke up because I knew I had to go back there. The pay wasn't even all that great, I think it was $7.50 an hour.

I used to listen to my walkman and even that drove me crazy because Z100 plays the same songs over and over again! I didn't want to bring tapes because the batteries went really fast, and between commuting and buying lunch, I would have made nothing! (back then you had to pay for a bus and a subway, you couldn't do the MetroCard).

Trips to the bathroom were a treat. I would tell myself, OK, do 1000 more pages and then you can go to the bathroom for 5 minutes. I was like a vampire emerging from a coffin. The people there didn't even know I existed!!

When I was in high school I worked at Boston Market/Chicken for approx. 3 hours. I burned my arm on the chicken warmer and have a permenant scar...I think this is where my hate for fast food and vegetarian lifestyle stem from.

Watering people's plants. I was 11. I lived out east so a lot of people were weekenders.

It's a tie between wait staff at a catering hall and server at boston market. I'm just not cut out to work with food.

Delivering papers. My dh and I did it together and we fought every week-lol!

I worked as a banquet sales person for a well known LI catering facility/restaurant...
the pay was terrible- they paid a yearly salary which wasn't terrible- but they were only closed on Xmas- the rest of the time they were open... on holidays like thanksgiving the catering office was closed but we had to work as restaurant managers as the whole place became a restaurant (it sat 1000 people) - so basically i was on my feet all day bussing tables in a suit .. it was TERRIBLE and we didn't get tips or overtime -even though it was a 12 hour day...

I was there 7 months.. I did ONE holiday and my goal was to get out of there by the next, which I did.
