IVF here we come!!!
So I had my meeting with Dr. Kenigsberg at LI IVF yesterday. He spent a good hour talking with me and did an exam. He confirmed PCOS and went over what I have been doing for the last year as far are the clomid etc.
He also went over DH's SA results and blood work and said that we could do this the more conservative way or take a more agressive route.
Being that I am so young and in good health, he thinks I would be a great candidate for IVF. He feels I will respond great to the meds and produce a lot of eggs. He said we'd obviously only put 2 back , as long as I am ok with twins, since he feels I will respond very well to everything and have great chances of keeping them.
If we didnt go that route, he said that we could try different clomid/metformin options and/or injectables. He felt that injectables would be "scary" with me, because I would probably produce many eggs and, well, I obviously dont want that kind of risk!
If it were just me as far as our problems go, I would have opted to try some other options, but since DH also has problems, I opted to go striaght to IVF because I feel it will give us the best shot and Ive already dealt with my share of clomid. With DH's issues, I just cant see trying more clomid and/or metformin when A. it may not even get me to ovulate and B. DH's sperm is not in good shape.
I had blood work done this am and tomorrow am they will call and get me started on provera to get my period, then I will start BCP's. In the mean time, I have my IVF interview on January 8th and have to set up an appointment with a social worker. I am absolutely exicted and eager to get all of this started. The nurses couldnt believe I wasn't completely overwhelmed with information. I explained to them that sitting around NOT doing anything was far more stressful for me and that I am a very "schedule" oriented person so this is something that I can deal with much more easily.
I felt awesome about the office and the nurses there are the best! They called me three times today just to check on bloodwork and give me updates when they spoke to the lab!!!
I am sure I will have tons of questions in the coming days and weeks so any tips would be much appreciated!!!!

Jen - Great approach! I felt excited too after talking with the Dr. about IVF. In my mind, although there is never any gaurantee I know IVF is going to give me greater odds.

We have similar issues - both young and healthy, I have PCOS and was not ovulating, and Male factor issues. We also tried Clomid and metformin, and decided it was time to move straight to IVF since it was both of us. Best of luck to you.

Good luck Jen! Welcome to the IVF world. Im starting now and as overwhelming as it is, it feels good to have a plan and like you we were given good chances of success because I am young too. Hopefully we'll both be holding our IVF babies in 2008

Best of luck to you and be careful of hyperstimming. Dr. K is really good about it and will put you on the safest protocol...but make sure to get lots of fluids and plenty of rest while stimming.
You are going to end up with a ton of great embies!!!!

Good luck Jen!!!!!! My SIL and brother had similar fertility issues and after 3 years of trying, they went the IVF route and are now expecting twins in June!
