Re: Is your man a "manly" man?

Three Times:

1) He cried when our daughter was born (just a little)

2) When he and his dad got into a HUGE fight and his dad basically disowned him. He cried a little. They have not spoken in 5 years.

3) My brother said he got a little choked up when the surgeon came out to tell him I was OK immediately after surgery

I've never seen DH cry. I know he cried once when his grandmother died, but I wasn't there.

Never during a movie, TV show or our wedding.
But I have seen him cry a few times. One off the top of my head was when he read the journal I kept of the time he spent in the hospital after his accident.Chat Icon

Re: Is your man a "manly" man?

I've seen DH cry a handful of times...mostly rough spots in our marriage/life. Never for a movie...he's not mushy at all.

Re: Is your man a "manly" man?

The only time I saw DH cry was last year when he came home and tried to tell me his father did not make it as he came into the house. His father had been transported in emergency to the hospital after collapsing at his house a couple of hours earlier that afternoon. I was waiting for him to come from the City and meet me at home so we could rush to the hospital. We both lost it at that moment, holding each other!

he doesn't cry for movies but for more serious stuff.
He is a very manly man and sometimes it takes him awhile to really express his emotions.

Stepfather died
we got married
our son was born
At the end of Simon Birch

ETS: Oh, and wen I was in labor. He said it was so hard to see me in all that painChat Icon

Re: Is your man a "manly" man?

4 times:
1.When his favorite aunt in the whole world wrote him the NASTIEST email over some effed up stuff (they haven't spoken since)

2.Once we had an AWFUL fight and he thought I was going to leave him.

3.The day we got married

4.The first time he layed eyes on our daughter.

And even of those, the only time he cried where the tears actually spilled from his eyes was when he saw Maddie for the first time.....

Re: Is your man a "manly" man?

I have seen him cry but never at a movie only at real life tragic stuff (our wedding, grandparents passing, when our 35 year old BIL lost his battle to cancer 6 months before our wedding, birth of our son, and when one of our best friends died this past week)

My DH cried when we were watching the movie "Miracle." Yea, in all the movies we've seen, he only cries at a hockey movie. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is your man a "manly" man?

He's definitely the manly man. He's never cried during a movie.

I've seen him cry. He teared up when he saw me coming down the aisle. The other times were during some of the truly toughest times in his life (sister dying, nephew being born dead, mom very sick). It certainly doesn't make him seem less manly to me. If he didn't cry, it would make him seem less human.

The only time I've ever seen him cry was at his friend's funeral, just days after their HS graduation. He was killed in a car accident.

Re: Is your man a "manly" man?

Never. I think I've seen the man cry 3 times during out 9 years together and I'm pretty sure they all revolved around either the death of loved ones or 9-11.

I've seen him tear up or get choked up over something personal. I don't know if he's ever gotten upset over a movie though.

And yes, he's still a manly man.

same for my husband!

DH is very much a "manly" man. He's cried at all the "right" times, IMO (our wedding, births of our sons, when we put his cat down and when we received some bad news about his health). Chat Icon

I think I'd worry if he NEVER cried. Chat Icon
