Is what you are doing for a living now...
what you see yourself doing at say 60 or until you retire?
For me, no. I will eventually age out of my business I think...or I just won't be able to do the crazy stress/hours like now...
I think about it a lot because I have no idea what the heck I would do if I wan't doing what I was doing?

Maybe not until I'm 60, but certainly until I can afford to retire comfortably. I love my job.

Nope. I keep wondering what I want to do if I ever go back to work FT. Certainly not engineering consulting....

In this field (IT related), yes. I take my job one day at a time (which so far, is treating me pretty good)

No. I have been thinking more and more about getting certified in yoga and teaching. BUT still editing on the side as freelance.

Re: Is what you are doing for a living now...
I adore my job. It gives me the intellectual challenge that I crave, and at the same time, it's beyond satisfying to know that I'm making a difference. I can see why so many people in my office have stayed here 20+ years.
With that said, I get bored easily and I can see burning out in this position at some point with receiving the same type of complaints over and over again, and dealing with the same crazy complainant's over and over again. At some point, I would need more.
Ideally, maybe something at the University level, either as counsel handling employment matters and compliance with state and federal anti-discrimination laws, or even as a professor.
My dream? Supreme Court Justice, but we'll just have to see if miss Alex will let me aspire that grandly

Re: Is what you are doing for a living now...
In some way or form. I'm a music teacher, so my job will always revolve around teaching music because it's my passion in life, but I don't think it'll always be in a school setting. I can see myself just teaching out of my private studio at an older age where I can set my own schedule.

I think I will continue to practice law until I retire. Right now I am very happy at the firm I work for, but down the road, I am not positive if I will stay in private practice.

Maybe in some form, consulting or something but not really - I'm thinking more about changing careers to teaching. Eventually I'd love to own a tea shop too, maybe in my 50s.

Unfortunately, I doubt it...I want to be the mother my mother was to me and there's no way I can with the crazy hours I'm keeping right now.
We shall see.

Re: Is what you are doing for a living now...
My sister and friends were talking about this this last weekend. We all decided we better NOT have to work until we are 80! I hope to retire way before that doing exactly what I'm currently doing. I have almost 15 years in here and a nice profit sharing plan.
