is registering at 3 places greedy and gluttonous??

honest opinions please!!

we originally were registering at BRU and Amazon, mostly because BRU has some more of the things (like patterns and stuff) that i like than BBB.

BUT i went to BBB and LOVED the store so much. i still do want to keep registries and BRU and Amazon, but i am DEF moving a lot over from BRU to BBB. i still want to keep Amazon too though...

so am i being greedy?? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA - its not that i want so much stuff - actually i dont really want a bunch of crap ill never use. i just like specific things and cant find them all in one place. Chat Icon Chat Icon

i think it's a bit much... also, confusing for gift givers. you may not get as much off multiple registries as you would if you just had one.

I don't think so. In hindsight I wish that I would have registered at Amazon as well. Their prices are so great. I registered at BBB and BRU. Both stores do not carry the same things. I personally think it's fine.

I wouldn't say you are being greedy but I did find with my wedding having multiple registries didn't work out too well. Got a lot of gift cards and think people either didn't want to schlep to multiple stores to look at stuff or I know for some people the stores just weren't as accessible. Like I know BBB has a lot less stores locally, so more people might be apt to go to BRU. Amazon, I'm not to sure about, I guess the younger people would prefer that.

Honestly I don't think so. I only registered for 2 places but I don't think it is being greedy if you registered at 3. In my opinion, thinking as a gift giver, I like to be able to pick from 3 different places. You have more of a selection. You never know where people might like to buy things and if some place is cheaper. I don't see anything wrong with it. Go ahead and have 3 registries. Chat Icon

i say no, because some people may not have one store near them, or may prefer shopping online, etc. In fact, I think it makes it easier for people.

I remember when I registered, some guests were sooo far away from the nearest BRU, so they appreciated I had cross-registered at Target.

Re: is registering at 3 places greedy and gluttonous??

I registered at three places bc I liked certain things at different stores and I also have family all over the US and most of them don't have a BBB by them but have a BRU and others didn't have either by them so I added a small registry at target.

I don't think it's greedy, but I think you do need to keep your shower guests in mind. Are many of them comfortable ordering online? Is there a BBB near them? With DS #1 I registered at BBB and BRU. Because of mis-communication with my MIL, people only fond out about my BRU registry. It was a pain after the fact to try to get what I needed that was not purchased. I would say, keep it as simple as possible! Good luck!

Re: is registering at 3 places greedy and gluttonous??

I did for my wedding. My only thing with Amazon is that in my family and friends, many wait till the last minute to get a gift, so I don't think much will be bought online. I went to a shower recently and the girl registered at Target, but almost everything was online only. She literally got nothing off her registry at her shower.

def not greedy at all. . you are not asking for more just getting it from more places. . it's not like people have to suddenly buy you 1 present from each place. . hardest part is keeping track of everything. .

This is exactly what we did. We weren't going to register at BBB but we were there and loved it. Our amazon list is mostly children's books.

I agree. I don't find it to be greedy at all but I found that opening multiple registries for my wedding confused people. I had one whole registry that no one bought anything from. It was a waste and people only got things off of one registry, the one that was more convenient for them.

I would never do it again which is the main reason I only registered at one store. I like BBB a lot but unfortunately I knew for a lot of people it was very incovenient because there are a lot less stores. BRU seemed to be the most conveniently located.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I'm not saying I think it's greedy or gluttonous, but other people may and that's why I wouldn't.

I registered at only BRU even though I like BBB better because it is the easiest place for most people to get to. We liked some products better at Target and Amazon though, so I put similar things on the BRU registry and will return it and buy the things we like ourselves.

For example, I hate all the shopping cart covers at BRU but love one at Target. I registered for one at BRU but will return it and go buy the one I really like after the shower.

We may be on the extreme opposite end though. I probably worry too much about other people Chat Icon at us and that's why I'd rather do this than have another registry. JMO.

Re: is registering at 3 places greedy and gluttonous??

I did for my wedding. Nobody bought anything from Pottery Barn, so that was a waste of time.

So, I think that it is probably unnecessary. For the only reason that, people stick to what they know. And, I feel, at least in my circle of family and friends, that baby showers equal BRU. I just think that if I added three places, that I would be wasting my time, like I did for my wedding registry.

I could have written this because it's exactly what we did. Amazon has better prices, BRU is more convenient and we shockingly fell in love with BBB when we went there! I do feel weird listing 3, but it gives more options and better prices for guests, which I think is the opposite of greedy! :) And amazon is only on there because their prices are better, so that has the guests in mind. Oh - and I had three for our wedding, too.
