Is my fear irrational??
I will be 12 weeks on Sunday. I go for my NT scan on Tuesday. I was an IVFer, pg on the first time. I was able to see the baby every week with my RE, but I havent seen it since about 8.5 weeks. Everything looked fine for each one... I have had no bleeding or cramping. I have been really lucky so far, with my only symptoms being exhaustion and waves of sickness here and there.
I am so scared that something will happen to my baby inside me and I wont know it. Im scared that I will go to my scan on Tuesday and they wont see the heartbeat.
I have had no reason to think that something may be wrong.. but Im just worried.
Will this fear go away if everything is OK on Tuesday and I made it through my 12 weeks? Do I sound crazy?

It's ok to worry sometimes, especially early on when you can't feel movement. I wouldn't get caught up in it though b/c u don't need the stress. Take it day by day and enjoy being pregnant. Everything will be just fine

Re: Is my fear irrational??
I still worry every single day. I'm 23 weeks.
I can relate to how you feel- every sonogram we go to, I immediately look for the heartbeat. I fell today at work on my knee and was so worried that I made an appointment to make sure my was okay. For me, the worrying hasn't gone away and I don't know if it ever will. I love this guy so much already.

I think it's pretty normal, especially if it is your first child. It will get easier once you start feeling kicks.

Re: Is my fear irrational??
Trust me when I say I know exactly how you feel. As a fellow IVF'er, it was such a hard and nervewracking adjustment to going from having a sono every week to having to wait 5 weeks to see the baby again.
Even now, I'm almost 22 weeks, and I still hold my breath everytime I have a sono.

Re: Is my fear irrational??
I got my BFP on my first IVF as well, following a variety of other treatments. I was a wreck in the beginning of my pregnancy. I worried everyday. It was worse than anything I had been through emotionally during the ttc process. It did slowly get better though. I am now 14 weeks and I can't say that I am not nervous, but I am definitely better than I was. I am usually great after going to the doctor and then the further I get away from my appointment, the more the anxiety builds again. This is also my first pregnancy so I don't know what to expect and worry about every twinge. What you are feeling is definitely understandable considering what you went through. It is hard to imagine things going right for once! BUT things are going right... more than right... great! Do your best to enjoy every minute of your pregnancy. Sounds like you are doing great!!! FM me if you ever need to talk - I totally getcha!!! Congratulations on your miracle!!!

I was the same way in the beginning, and I still worry a lot now. But, feeling the kicks definitely helps with that!!

Re: Is my fear irrational??
No. It doesn't go away.
My placenta is anterior.... so at 20 weeks, I still don't feel ANYTHING.
I still get nervous.
I have a decent stethoscope & listen to baby's heart (you can start this at about 18 weeks & it doesn't emit ANYTHING, as compared to an ultrasound/doppler).

Re: Is my fear irrational??
This is the life of a mom / mom-to-be.
The fear (as it progresses) - Never getting pregnant - Miscarriage during the first 12 weeks - Problem with NST /AFP - Going into labor early - Losing the baby unexpectedly - Problems during labor / delivery
After the baby is born you fear: - Breastfeeding vs Formula feeding - SIDS - Vaccine issues - Autism - Developmental delays - Hurting themselves when playing - Issues with daycare Etc.
The life of a mom is all about worry. Your job is to control the environment as best as you can while maintaining your sanity.
