Is a changing table topper necessary?
For anyone who is not buying a separate changing table and is just going to use the top of the dresser as the changing table, is the changing table topper attachment necessary or is it safe to just put the changing table pad right on top of the dresser? I'm not sure if it's a waste of money or if it's really necessary to keep the changing pad secure.

Re: Is a changing table topper necessary?
i just put the pad right on top of the dresser with non-skid material under it. I will admit, it is not quite as high as I'd like (I had a real changing table with my son) BUT its not worth hundreds to me. I'll get used to it AND we don't have room for more furniture.

Is a changing table topper necessary?
The dresser I have is the perfect height for me to change DS on. I don't think a topped was an option.

Re: Is a changing table topper necessary?
Well, forgetting about height for a second (which I didn't even think of and am now also worried about since the dresser hasn't arrived yet), I was actually thinking it might be necessary to keep the changing pad secure on the dresser and to prevent it from sliding off since it basically provides a lip around all sides of the pad. Is that not necessary? I'm lost!

we don't have the room for a seperate changing table and the dresser that we got for our LO comes with a hutch, so i can't put a changing pad on there anyway. i'm just going to use the changing pad itself and put it onthe bed/table/wherever when i need to change her. if you put non skid material underneath like PP said, its not going to move and youwould never leave the baby unattended anyway, so its not like they are going to fall off the changing pad. Even if you had the table topper, it wouldn't provide extra protection for your baby to not fall off, it would just make it more difficult for the changing pad to fall off.

Height is fine for me and my husband, we also attached it to the pad to the back of the dresser, I think it had a screw on the pad? or a clip or something?

Re: Is a changing table topper necessary?
Ours is on a long dresser with a hutch over it. We don't have a topper. I had nonstick stuff but it still slid. It's fine though because ours has a back and sides from the hutch so it's not going anywhere.

Re: Is a changing table topper necessary?
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a changing table topper. We used the top of the dresser. The changing pad came with 2 screws and DH screwed it into the back where we don't see it. My twins are 1 and it has worked fine. When they don't need it anymore we'll just unscrew it.

We just have the pad on top of the dresser and I bought one of those n skid shelf liners to put under it's so it doesn't slips around...

I have the pad on top of the dresser (used it this way for 3 years with my older DD, and now with my little one). It is tethered to the dresser with the straps/snaps that are included.

Same here. Both DH and I are pretty tall and the height has never been an issue for us.

I have one and I like it. You mean the soft pad? If so i would get it. The top is hard on a dresser.

Re: Is a changing table topper necessary?
We didn't buy the topper, just the changing pad and cover. I never changed my DS on the dresser, ALWAYS changed him on our bed. I just put the changing pad on our bed when it was time to change him. I never had to worry about him rolling over or hitting his head. Did this until he was potty trained. Worked great for us and it is what I plan on doing for DC2 even though I'm sure we'll purchase a dresser for this baby too.
