I dont think its too early. It should be when ever it is most convenient for you. The only downside to having it earlier is having all the baby stuff around taking up space when you wont be using it for a while still.

I don't think it is since I had one at 28 weeks. Do what works best for you!

It's up to you, you and DH will have to deal with lots of baby stuff 3 months in advance with all the gifts.

I should have added that I am travelling for my shower because I moved away. Late May would be 1) during communion season and 2) taking a risk that i will still be able to do the 3 hour drive back and forth and be uncomfortable because of it....i would be 34w then...

We definitely dont have an issue with space. We moved out of the area...we have a full basement that is partially finished and has plenty of space for storage...

As long as you don't mind - it is fine
I know someone that had the baby in Nov and had a shower in July, due to her having to travel for it

That's why I had mine at 28 weeks. My Dr. didn't want me to travelling too much in my 3rd trimester, so we drove the 10 hours to Buffalo for my shower a few weeks ago.

Absolutely NOT too early for a shower. I had mine at 28 weeks as well. It was what worked best for me. Do what you want to do and enjoy!

Just curious as to why you say yes it's too early.. is it superstitios to have it that early? Inconvenient to have the stuff around? Bad luck?

Just wondering, thanks Chat Icon

Re: is 28w too early for a shower?

i was in a similar situation. my mom and i started visiting places to have a shower last weekend bc i am due in july too. and bc of communions and all, soooo many places are booked solid for may. and the last sunday in april is easter, so forget that. we were going to do april 17 but i kinda didnt want to have my shower that early, putting me around 28 weeks. i just really had my heart set on may, but i was seriously considering april until we found a place that could give us may 1. i say, if april is what works best for you then april is what works and who cares how early it is??
good luck!

Just my personal opinion. At 28 weeks you have a long 3 more months to go. It is the very start of the third trimester. Your not even really all that big at that point.... which is something I always picture a pregnant woman at the shower to be.

I think it is also so much more exciting closer to when the baby is due.

I am almost that far along right now with baby #3 and don't even have a big belly yet. I would feel very strange at this point of my pregnancy having a shower, but again that is just my personal opinion.

Re: is 28w too early for a shower?

I also am due in July and had really wanted my shower in May but EVERY single place we called was booked (communions, graduations ,etc.) May is a REALLY difficult month. My mom and I thought we were looking into everything early so we were surprised when everything was booked. It was crazy! We ended up finding 1 restaurant that had the first weekend in May available so we just took it! I'll be 31 weeks at the shower.

I think that you need to do whatever works best for you. If you are driving a long distance, then you won't be able to push your shower that far back and believe me-I totally understand how crazy it is finding available dates so I say have your shower at 28 weeks and enjoy yourself :)

Re: is 28w too early for a shower?

I am having mine at 29 weeks because of the many complications i've ran into. I'm actually keeping fingers crossed to even make it that far in my pregnancy and if i wasn't on bed rest i would have it even sooner.

I think it's all personal choice and at the end of the day people that want to celebrate your baby won't judge you for when you had your shower.

Re: is 28w too early for a shower?

I had a shower at almost 30 weeks. I think it's fine. I live in CT and my shower was in NY where most of my friends and family live. It worked out well. I had just started swelling and was only slightly uncomfortable. My swelling got much worse as the weeks went on and I was eventually put on bedrest.

Re: is 28w too early for a shower?

Thanks for all of your opinions. I think its settled for April.

I personally am not concerned about not being "big" enough at my shower. If anything, I would rather be smaller and be able to enjoy the time with my family and friends without being so big and uncomfortable. I am really short and at 34-35 weeks, I have a feeling I will be really uncomfortable (not that every woman isnt).

I am most concerned about being able to travel for it and making it most convenient for all of my family. I've asked some personal friends, and apparently its quite common to have it 3 months from your due date.

I really appreciate all of your input....

I don't think so at all! I'm having mine at 29 weeks bc we have an event scheduled for every Sun in March and I didn't wanna do it too clase to my due date bc I wanna have time to set things up and wash things etc...I say whatever is right for you.
