instant messenger is so dangerous

a girl that i work with (who happens to be my cousin) is wearing a very deep vneck today. I instant messaged my best friend and said "you should see So and So's shirt, the vneck is so deep that its almost to the bottom of her boobs" . Sure enough, i didn't IM my friend, i emailed my cousin!!!!

she must hate me now.

We had almost the same exact situation at my office last week. A co-worker meant to email me about someones really low-cut shirt and sent it to her instead. He immediately apologized and she was pretty cool about it.

I say go right over to her and beg for forgiveness!

Oh, Laura, this is definately something that I would do. I get so paranoid with emails about my SIL that I constantly check the name I am sending it to! I am so sorry this happened- luckily its just over a shirt and not something major

i apologized, i just said i thought it was out of character for her. She didn't seem to ******, but she just dragged another girl outside for a cigarette, so i'm sure they are having a pow wow about it right now.

It definitely is dangerous! The worst is when you're typing to somebody and not paying attention, somebody IMs you and it pops up on your screen and you end up typing to them instead of the intended person. IMing is something you need to pay attention to while you're doing it

If it makes you feel better, i did that here too.

I was complaining about something to my boss out loud, and this wasky chick, Daniella, that works in our office goes, "Reeeeeeeeer!!" to me (like a cat noise)


So I im'ed my boss saying, "can i punch Daniella?"

Well, it went to Daniella, not my boss





needless to say i apologized and said "Im sorry but that cat noise really bothers me."

That was Oct 2005 and I am still embarrassed about it.
Dont worry, it will pass. I hate that feeling though!

Don't worry about it, we all have had awful messenger experiences...I meant to IM my friend but I was so wasted I IM'd a total stranger and every drunken college night from then on out I conversed with this total stranger. We ended up dating for awhile!

I know what you're feeling.

I IMed a friend telling her that I didn't want to do so and so's work anymore and it got sent to so and so. She forgave me and actually makes fun of me about it now.

IMing is VERY dangerous!!!

Something like that happened at DH's office last week. Their boss is really loud an annoying and his office is across the hall. So DH's coworker means to IM DH "I'm getting such a headache" but actually IM's the boss. Yikes!

The boss came in and said, so am I giving you a headache? Coworker had to fess up and say well I sit right by the door and sometimes when you are on the phone you are a little loud.

awww...I'm sorry this happened. I think you handled it graciously, though.

I have learned from experience not to put anything in writing that you wouldn't want the person to see.

Ugh. That's the worst! I did that once but not in IM, via email. The 'reply to all' is a dangerous thing too. It was a client's employee and I called her an idiot in the email that was supposed to go only to my DH!
