Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

First off, thank you for answering all my annoying questions! I just have no idea what Im doing.
I was talked into getting 4 strollers yesterday when registering...and I swear I was dreaming about strollers last night.
This is what I got...please make recommendations or tell me where Im going wrong:
I got a graco carseat with the snap and go thing. Then I got talked into the whole stroller/carseat combo. It seems really bulky and big to me. I was thinking to eliminate the big graco stroller and just use the carseat with the snap and go until grows out of it.
Then I got the Peg Prego Pliko P3. I suppose this would work once the baby is out of the carseat until 40 or so lbs? I have no idea. Its almost $400 so I want it to be worth it.
Then I got the Lavagna Swift stroller- which I suppose is an umbrella stroller. When will I need this one and not the peg prego?
I dont live in the city, really I need the stroller to do block walks and shopping outings.
My mom will need a stroller as well, so should I leave the graco travel system stroller on the registry for her? Or is there a less expensive way to go?
Do you understand why Im in HELL!!! Thank you all so much for any help you can give me!!

I gave my Graco Quattro Tour to my mom for her house. That stroller was too much of a beast for me to handle. When I was done with the Snap and Go, I got a Pliko Lite (super similar to the P3) and that is my stroller that I use for everything. Honestly I don't think you even need another stroller with the P3. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

I registered for the same 1st 3 stollers you have:
1-graco snap and go
2-graco travel system
3-Peg Prego Pliko P3

I think you can do without the Lavagna swift stroller since the Peg Prego and snap and go is so light weight...

Also, I don't know if I would worry about your mom getting a stroller, maybe she can buy her own or just use one of yours?

I've been going through the same thing and have changed my registry several times, it's hard to figure out what we really need since we've never done this before!

Haha you are right, however I think I'm going to leave the 3 on my registry and see if family buys them for me. Sounds silly but I feel like I can't give up one of those. Maybe someone else will post and tell us why NOT to get so many strollers Chat Icon ....anyone?

Re: Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

I also registered for 3 strollers......

1-graco snap and go
2-graco travel system
3-Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller

I plan to keep the snap & go in my car & travel system stroller will go in DH's truck. This way we don't have to move one stroller from car to car. Who ever has the baby will have a stroller to snap the seat into. When we are done with the snap & go, we will keep the Baby Jogger in my car & DH will continue to have the travel system stroller in his car.

ETA: Baby Jogger City Mini Single Stroller is NOT a jogging stroller used for jogging/running. The only reason it is called a "Jogger is because the front wheels are close together, instead of the same width apart as the back wheels. It is not long like real Jogging strollers are.

Re: Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

BTDT mom- This was all we needed...

Graco car seat and snap and go
Baby Jogger City Stroller
Umbrella stroller(used from a consignment store for $19) for travel so we didn't screw up our expensive Baby Jogger

This is all you really need. I can't see having the Graco snap and go AND the travel system. I would either stick with your Piko 3 as you "Baby Jogger" . I would just have one expensive stroller.

Re: Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

don't fall into the registry gun trap!!!

From the way you are writing, you sound as if you felt pressured or at least persuaded to make these choices, and you and your DH were NOT the people picking these items. That's not a good situation.

I think you should look at the baby bargains book. they have a great stroller section. you should think about your lifestyle (go to parks or on grass a lot? go shopping regularly? Will you go on subways regularly? Will the stroller always go into your car or do you seldom use a car and walk to local shops?) All of these factors affect what stroller(s) you should purchase. for grass/parks, or bumpy pavement like in my town, you should consider an all terrain stroller (they have larger wheels that can handle uneven surfaces). for putting it in the car constantly, it's important that it is compact, easily collapsable, and fairly ,light. For shops, you want to make sure it's not too wide or long for narrow spaces.

Figure this out for both your home situation, and your mom. Then, look at baby bargains and look at reviews/cost. certain strollers will pop out in your mind as being perfect for you and reliable.

odds will be high that BRU and BBB will NOT stock the perfect stroller for you. In that case, you can buy it yourself or start an amazon registry for those few items and suggest them to a future grandparent if they offer to get one for you......

I've heard a lot of moms rave about the snap and go for it's light weight, small size, and ease of use for shopping trips. however, it DOES set you up to spend extra $$ to get another stroller about 4 months down the line.

We bought only ONE stroller.... the bumbleride indie.... an all terrain stroller becuase our neighborhood has very uneven sidewalks and pavement. it has a infant seat adapter for the beginning, and is the lightest all terrain (they're notoriously heavier than other strollers since they are made from more metal and less plastic than conventional strollers) on the market, so it's still reasonably easy to get into the trunk and it isn't hideously huge. As for mom's house, I figure the stroller will travel with Scone, so buying several strollers will just create a lot of clutter neither mom nor we like. We had to go to a specialty shop in brooklyn to buy it. I highly recommend a visit to that shop (baby central) if you're in that area... it has probably 3 dozen higher-end strollers as floor models.

hope this helps.......

oh one more thing: jogger strollers have fixed (non-pivoting) front wheels. They also generally are longer than other strollers. They are great for jogging, but do NOT translate well into everyday life. However, if you DO jog, it is best to invest in a jogging stroller becuase all terrains like mine (even if they CLAIM to have lockable front wheels) seldom can take the wear and tear of jogging. So, unless you jog, do not invest in a jogging stoller Chat Icon

Re: Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

I had four strollers with ds and it was ridiculous. This time aroud dh got me a bugaboo. I know they are expensive, but I can use it as a snap and go, it has the bassinett and as a regular stroller. And since we are beach people I do not need to get a jogger for the beach. Maybe you can look into a stroller that is similar.

Re: Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

I am only getting the snap and go and the bugaboo. I am going to use the snap and go for the first few months when I am at home with the baby and want to go out alone or travel to my Mom's house. I will use the bugaboo around the neighborhood (we live in a walking neighborhood) and on the beach (it has a sand settingChat Icon Chat Icon .) I have also looked at the bumbleride and am going to Baby Central (as per WannabeMom's suggestion) to check them out in person. I live in Brooklyn, so it is easy for me to get there. I was lookinginto the PegPerego Pilko, but my SIL has one from her DS and said she never used it--it was too heavy and I could have hers if I wanted it. My friend with a newborn said the car seat part is very heavy. I am only registering for the Bugaboo so I can get 10% off when nobody buys it for me. It is Chat Icon Chat Icon , but everybody says worth it.

Re: Im in stroller HELL- RP from parenting

With DD I got the Snap and Go and the Graco Quattro Tour - which I love. I know a lot of people are turned off by the weight, but I never found it to be a problem. I like the big basket underneath and DD always seems comfortable in it.

When she was still in the infant seat, I did use the SNG 99% of the time. I used the Graco for things like the outlets (it was a lifesaver when she would fall asleep in the 5 second ride from Tanger I to II - then I could just snap the infant seat in, but I used it as a regular stroller the rest of the time) and the mall.

I recently added a jogger to my collection - it has a much smoother ride and it does not have a fixed front wheel (you can make it stationary, but it doesn't have to be).

Looking back now, I don't think that I would have changed what I decided to register for, except to maybe see if I could have gotten a SNG used from Craigslist or borrowed a friend's. It isn't like the baby is actually sitting in it, so it doesn't get dirty or anything.
