Re: If your child DOESN'T drink milk, are you...
my ds never drank milk, he hated the taste, he does eat cheese and yogurt, and takes a multi-vitamin.
my dd has a milk intolerance and has never drank milk, she does drink almond milk and eats soy/almond milk.
my ped says milk is overrated, not natural to humans, so as long as getting vit d and calcium they should be good.
Hope this helps!

DD drinks maybe 2-3oz per day (some days she doesn't drink any). She eats cheese though. I'm not concerned.

Re: If your child DOESN'T drink milk, are you...
DS never had milk, he is 26 mos now, we just started yogurt at about 18 mos and that's all the dairy he gets, he won't take cheese either.
I've tried other things but he won't drink it, he only drinks water.
I am a little concerned - (Ped isn't) but it is more my mindset than any real validated concern. I grew up with dairy as a large part of my diet, so it's just so weird adjustment for me, he gets all his issues w/dairy from DH's side.
Anyway I get a liq calcium supplement from Sherry's health food store and give him a big teaspoon of that every night to make up for what he does not get in his diet.

Younger DS is 26mos and hasn't been taking milk for almost a year but he's an EXCELLENT eater. Ped isn't worried, he says that as long as I offer him other calcium-rich foods (yogurt, cheese, veggies and fruit) that he should be fine.

NOPE!!!! Dairy is really no good for you. My one saon is dairy free and drinks coconut milk...much better and more healthy. My other son LOVES milk, and he is always sick...so I attribute it a lot to dairy.

DD stopped drinking milk when we took her off the bottle, at first I was concerned but she is almost 4 now and eats lots of cheese and yogurt . The only time she really drinks milk now is when she has cereal for breakfast which is probably 2-3 times a week.

This is DD1. Dr was never concerned since she loves veggies and will eat yogurt and cheese.

Re: If your child DOESN'T drink milk, are you...
My ped never expressed concern for my DC lack of drinking milk so I was never concerned. They used to drink it from their bottles, but once I stopped the bottles they really didn't drink that much.
Both my DC eat at least 1 yogurt each day and have cheese. So they are still getting what they need through that.

Re: If your child DOESN'T drink milk, are you...
DS has a milk protein allergy. He has never had milk. He gets 2-3 8oz bottles a day of Blue Diamond almond milk. Only Blue Diamond because it has 30% calcium as recommended by the ped and nutritionist. Silk and Trader Joe's only had 20%. Some times he can tolerate cheese and butter and some times he has a breakout on his face from them.
