If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
will you still vote for the other candidate/s in your party who did get the nomination or will it totally change your vote?

Re: If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
Honestly I am torn between two in my party. I will however vote for the other one in the party, if my person doesnt get in. Make sense??
Let me add, I DO NOT like any of the people running in the other party.

I am NOT a McCain fan at all, he is George W. round 3. So while I have a preference in the Democratic party, I will not vote for McCain if my democratic choice is not nominated.

I guess that comes to the heart of my question. So if your choice in the democratic party is Obama and Clinton gets the nomination, will you vote for Clinton? McCain will likely get the nomination so you won't be voting for him...will you vote for an independent then, maybe? I'm must wondering if some people will just automatically vote with their party even if their candidate isn't nominated.

I would evaluate the remaining candidates between the Democratic nominee and the Independent party nominee and make my decision then. But most likely, I would "change" my vote to the Democratic nominee. I think both Clinton and Obama have strengths and weaknesses as Presidential candidates but I would rather have either of them than McCain.

I'm already torn and would have no problem voting for the other candidate. I don't see their stances on the issues as being that different.

for dems, clinton and obama are virtually identical on issues and plans, to me it would seem silly to go to the complete opposite side of the issues.
I think the republicans have more differences among them, but I wouldn't think that obama or clinton would be the alternative.

Re: If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
I have my first choice, who is in my party.
My second choice is in the other party. I would have no problem voting for my 2nd choice if my 1st choice is not an option (though that seems unlikely). I don't vote for my party just b/c they're in my party- but i think that is also b/c i'm very much in the middle and some things take me to the right and some take me to the left. I think that if i were at the extreme end, it might be different.
I've been following both sides very closely (its basically the only thing on in my house these days). I have 2 favorite candidates, and they happen to be in different parties.

Re: If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
Right now, I have very strong feelings about Obama and if he was on the ticket, I'd probably vote for a 3rd party candidate instead of voting for him.
I'm a left-leaning independent, btw.

I vote for the candidate that supports my issues. If that candidate isn't available, I would vote for the next closest one, regardless of party.

Re: If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
I will. I'm a big Obama fan and I really hope he gets the nomination, but if he doesn't I will support Clinton. The two are very close on most of the issues and I think if she is the nominee, she will be lightyears closer to what I want than any Republican. If they weren't so similar, it might be harder for me to decide what to do (if that situation arises).

Re: If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
I will put my support 100% behind the Democratic nominee.
this hasn't changed since there were half a dozen people in the race.
There is and never has been a Republican presidential nominee that could make me pull that level. Absolutely 100% not

Re: If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
I would. I am for Obama, but if he doesn't get it, I will vote for Clinton most likely. I would investigate McCain a little more first though. While I am Democrat, I do vote Republican if that person is the better candidate. The big minus with him so far IMO, is that he supports the war in Iraq.

Re: If "your" candidate doesn't get the nomination...
I support Hilary mainly because I agree with her stance on education, but if Obama were to get the nomination I would certainly support him.
While there are many things I do like about McCain, I just cannot support his stance on Iraq.

ITA! Clinton and Obama are very similar... hence that neck and neck delegate count. I suspect many Dem's wouldn't have qualms voting for the other candidate....
The GOP'ers would, though... there are substantial differences between the candidates.... enough to defect? I doubt it.... unless the voter is leaning towards Independent.... The Dem's are too lefty to appeal to genuine right-wing GOP'ers....
If they really hate McCain, and he is the nominee, I think the right-wing of the GOP will abstain from voting, to protest the shift in their party....
