Re: If you won the lottery........
I would quit and persue other things first...I want to travel and make sure my family is well taken care of.
Then I might look into opening up my own daycare.
I would also love to donate some money to charity and research for huntingtons disease.

I would continue to work. Save the money for a house and traveling. I love my job so I do not mind going to work everyday.

I'd ask DH to work PT and do a little traveling. If we have enough, I'd open my own business.

Re: If you won the lottery........
Well I've always wanted to write, but never have time to focus on it cuz I'm always busy doing my real job. So I'd probably take a year off to give writing a try.

Re: If you won the lottery........
I'd quit my job so I can become a full-time student instead of part-time so I can get my degree quicker. After that, it would depend on how much I won & if it would be possible to live well off of the winnings alone.

Depends. Spread out over 40 years, 1 million = $25k/year, so you would need at least 5 million ($125k/year) to even start thinking about leaving work (no health coverage under Lottery.... ).
10 million+, I would leave work and help DW at home with DC. If we won enough to invest, DW always said she'd like to open up a Tea Shoppe, or something similar. Low-key, breakfast and lunch only.
I'd probably go into house flipping. If that was my "job", and I wasn't investing every last dime I had into each house, it would be less stressful.
If you take a lump sum (you're better off taking the lump sum) and walk away with $1 million cash at the end of the day, you're doing pretty well. Maybe not "quit my job well" -- but a heck of a lot better than $25k a year. Even in conservative investments, that money should be earning 8-10% a year (=$80,000 - $100,000). (I'd never just leave that much money in the bank and my very safe investments are earning this much. My more aggressive savings earn between 15 and 25%.) If you're re-investing a portion (or all) of the interest, your money, your money will grow pretty quickly and you could be in great shape to quit your job in a few years, depending on the lifestyle you want to lead... Supporting a family for 40 years on $1 million? Probably not -- but you could definitely do a lot better than $25k a year with low risk.
As for me, if the interest were enough to replace my salary for a while, I'd probably quit and pursue my own business, which I plan to do in a few years, anyway.
ETA - While investing is always with some amount of risk -- so is leaving $1,000,000 in the bank. Your accounts are only insured up to $100,000 per depositor per bank. You'd have to spread your money around to more than 10 banks if you intent to earn any interest on the money.
I would definitely hire Kara as my financial advisor
If it was a big enough win I would give my boss a months notice to find someone, but DH would quit that day!

Re: If you won the lottery........
Well, I'm a SAHM full-time. So, I don't work. If I won the lottery, I think I'd go back to school and then open my own business. So, I'd be working, but I'd be doing something that I really love.

I'd quit that day.
What she said...but only after I walked in that morning singing in off key, that wonderful ballad..."Take this job and shove it, I ain't working here no more."

I am very lucky to say I love my job and the people I work with and would not stop if I won the lottery. I would miss it too much! You can only shop for so long before you get tired of it.
