Re: If you won the lottery........
I would probably work for a little while and then quit and open my own private practice. I worked to hard for my degrees to quit completly but I would love to have a little private practice in my home and see however many clients I want to.

If it were enough to sustain me in a lifestyle that is currently better than the one I have now and I could live worry free, then no, I would not work.

Re: If you won the lottery........
Once the cash was in my account, I would walk into my managers office and tell him everything I've been wanting to tell him for a year! I would throw some **** around in his office (Because he is a neat freak) and then tell him to kiss my *** and figure out on his own how the hell he is going to do his job and mine by himself.
That would be so great!!!!

Depends. Spread out over 40 years, 1 million = $25k/year, so you would need at least 5 million ($125k/year) to even start thinking about leaving work (no health coverage under Lottery.... ).
10 million+, I would leave work and help DW at home with DC. If we won enough to invest, DW always said she'd like to open up a Tea Shoppe, or something similar. Low-key, breakfast and lunch only.
I'd probably go into house flipping. If that was my "job", and I wasn't investing every last dime I had into each house, it would be less stressful.
If you take a lump sum (you're better off taking the lump sum) and walk away with $1 million cash at the end of the day, you're doing pretty well. Maybe not "quit my job well" -- but a heck of a lot better than $25k a year. Even in conservative investments, that money should be earning 8-10% a year (=$80,000 - $100,000). (I'd never just leave that much money in the bank and my very safe investments are earning this much. My more aggressive savings earn between 15 and 25%.) If you're re-investing a portion (or all) of the interest, your money, your money will grow pretty quickly and you could be in great shape to quit your job in a few years, depending on the lifestyle you want to lead... Supporting a family for 40 years on $1 million? Probably not -- but you could definitely do a lot better than $25k a year with low risk.
As for me, if the interest were enough to replace my salary for a while, I'd probably quit and pursue my own business, which I plan to do in a few years, anyway.
ETA - While investing is always with some amount of risk -- so is leaving $1,000,000 in the bank. Your accounts are only insured up to $100,000 per depositer per bank. You'd have to spread your money around to more than 10 banks if you intent to earn any interest on the money.

NO WAY!!!!!!!
assuming we hit a major amount of money (several million $'s), DH and I would both quit our jobs, then I would tell my parents to quit their jobs. DH and I would travel a lot initially and think about things, but there is no way that either one of us would ever want to work again.

I wouldn't. I'm not really crazy about my job. I might eventually do something part time, but only if it was something I really wanted to do.

I would quit work and open up a professional wrestling training school for guys trying to break into the business
I'd hire the trainers and let them train the guys - and then I would promote local shows so that they can showcase their abilities to small crowds

Depending on the amount, I would probably only work part-time. I would discuss cutting hours at my job immediately.
I don't think it's healthy for someone to not work in some capacity.

Re: If you won the lottery........
i would give a lot money to support pancreatic cancer research. since my dad's diagnosis i have learned so much - and it blows my mind how a disease that is such a big killer in the US does not get a large amount of research $$ and that there is not a lot of info out there.
i would pay off debt and that of family members...
i would do all of that stuff first and then think about my job and what i wanted to do.

I would not say a word - Come in at night when no one is here and empty my cube of all my personal items.
Then I would mail in my letter of resignation.
Take a few months off to relax and travel and enjoy my life.....
and then open my own car detailing business. Scott

Re: If you won the lottery........
I used to say I would work. But my thoughts have changed. I would probably stop working here or take on a consultative position that wouldn't require me to be in the office 46 hours a week.
Of course this is ONLY if the lottery was enough to satisfy my financial needs from now until the end of time.
