How big were they and what size outfit did they wear home from the hospital?

This baby has been measuring big all along should be over 8lbs easy. I already have newborn outfits, Should I get 0-3 for a coming home outfit?

DD was 9lbs at birth and 8-something when we were discharged, she came home in a newborn outfit. She was between newborn and 0-3 months for the first few weeks depending on the brand.

My first was 9.5 lbs and my second was well over 8 lbs.

I would go with the 0-3. My first barely wore any newborn outfits.

It was like they handed me a toddler, not a newborn.

DS was born 8lb 12oz. He wore a NB outfit home (and that outfit still fit for a few weeks).

So to answer your question, your DC will fit in either NB or 0-3 outfits but if you want something that'll last a little longer, go with 0-3.

Dd was 8lbs 7 ozs

Ds was 9lbs 8 ozs

Both came home in 0-3 mos outfits

DD was 9lbs 2oz and she wore a NB outfit home from the hospital.

She was in 0-3mos by a week old, but wore NB for that whole first week and maybe a couple of times her second week.

DS was 8 lbs. 12 1/2 oz. and comfortably wore a NB outfit home.

My first was 7lbs.12oz. and my second was 9lbs.3oz. They both wore NB home from the hospital (actually it was the same outfit ). My first was in NB clothes for a month or so maybe. My second only for about a week I think.

DS was 9.4 at birth, but he lost a little weight in the hospital so, he was in NB clothes for about 3 weeks I would say. Now he's 19 months and in 2T's because he's so long.

DD was 8lbs. Her dress we took her home in was NB size but the bodysuit underneath was 0-3. She mostly wore 0-3 month outfits even though they were a bit big she grew into them quickly.

DD was under 8 but a mth early. Newborn for coming home andonly about 2 weeks or so after birth.

DS was 10lb 9oz.. He wore a newborn outfit but it was definitely tight. He would have been better off in 0-3 months.. It was the only time he wore a newborn outfit ever!

Sounds like I can just keep the NB outfits I got....If he or she is a real chunker Ill send my mom out to pick up something.

They told me DD was going to be a big baby - we were told 92nd percentile at our 20 week ultrasound.

The doctor was nervous she would get stuck and I would need a C-section.

I was freaking out.....

She was 7 pounds 8 ounces, 50% percentile, exactly average and came home in Newborn outfits. She wore newborn for about 2 weeks, until she was about 9 pounds - she gained weight quickly, so I guess she ended up a chunker after all.

So, just to point out these measurements aren't so accurate.

DS was 9lbs and 8 12 1/2 at discharge. We packed 2 outfits (nb & 0-3). The nb outfit was a small one -- it didn't fit. The 0-3 seemed so big on him. He wore nb outfits for a week and a half at home. It just so happened the one I packed for the hospital ran small.

I'd say just pack 2 to be on the safe side!!!

born at 8.5 lbs 21" , left hospital weighing 8lbs. She wore newborn coming home. She was able to wear newborn up until around 10lbs and that was it. That last about 1 month for her.

ds was born at 8lbs 8oz and dropped to 8lb 2oz a day or so after he was born. The 0-3 month clothes were all still to big, he was in nb clothes until he was about 3 weeks old.

My dd was/is a peanut, and even though she is now 9.5 lbs at 2 mos., she still mostly wears nb sizes. The 3 mos are loose and make me nervous wit all the extra fabric that tends to bubble around the upper chest, blocking her mouth. To me, this is not a time to save a few bucks. You will probably want a small quantity of tighter fitting stretchies on hand.

I also discovered clothes marked 0-3 mos. is more in line with 3 mos than newborn sizes. Hth.

DC was 9.5lbs - he was long though too so he never fit into nb clothes and went straight to 0-3.

DD was predicted to be over 8.5 lbs but she was 8 lbs at birth but down to 7 lbs 3 oz when leavin the hospital. I brought newborn and size 0-3 and she fit into the newborn. I would bring both just in case.

DS was 8.7 and 21in and he 3 months stuff was SWIMMING on him. He easily fit in newborn for at least a month or two.

Jack was 8.7 and wore a nb outfit at first and then peed thorough it before we left so I put him in the second outfit that I brought which was 0-3. It was huge. He did drop down to 7.11 though. Bring one of each! Always good to have a second just in case ;)
