I'm really interested to see who ends up running in 2008. I know some people who think Hilary would win if she ran, I REALLY don't think she would win.

i agree....but i don't think Hilary has a chance in HELL
democratic suicide imo

In order to have a chance, I think the dems need to run a moderate candidate. hilary is seen my many as an ultra-liberal, and I can't imagine 'red state" people taking to her.

true...but the democrats want IN this year.
they will not risk putting Hillary up...

As well as for the unfortunate reasons that Donna has mentioned as well..

But aside for the woman factor....I don't think would make it that far at all...IMO she is lucky to have the office she holds now

I agree. She is such a divisive figure.

It's hard to tell this early. In 1991, Clinton was a joke and no one though he had a chance in hell. Same with Reagan in 80. Gore seemed like a shoe-in. It can be very hard to predict.

i think its just easy for people to blame bush.

I think this says it all. It is very easy to blame him.

what does THIS have to do with my post? Chat Icon

as i said in THIS thread- i was not attacking OR defending him... just saying that to make the statement that "He's not 'MY' president" is completely assanine.

No. I didn't vote for him the first two times. I think he just does not get the "commom man" and overall, I just think he's incompetent on multiple levels. His priority seems to be making sure his cronies are happy.

Re: If you could, would you re-elect Bush?

I think it is hard to predict how any other president would have handled all of the situations that have occurred over the last 6 years.

After 9/11 the economy plummeted and it is difficult for any president, be it democratic or republican to bounce back from that. History shows that public views of the president tend to be favorable when $$$ is good.

However, having said that, I would NOT re-elect Bush. I think that morale is down and the country does need a new face.

i'm not attacking or defending Bush, but WHY do people say 'he's not my president'?

you live in this country, don't you? whether you love him or Hate him- he's still the president. Chat Icon

THANK YOU!!! this is why other countries laugh of at us. We have people that do not respect the president. Whether he is right or wrong if the people do not back him then why should anyone else.
It is America yes everyone has freedom of speech but there is a fine line.

My point was to underline what you said "i think its just easy for people to blame bush." He makes it easy for us to blame him because of the crazy things he says. That's all. I was just doing a little play on words.

See I don't see it this way. I didn't chose the "he's not my president option" because of what has been already said on this post. Regardless of who I did, or did not vote for, I regard him as my/our president.
However just because he is the president doesn't mean that I have to respect him or back him. Did the whole country back and support good old Bill when he "did not have sexual realtions with that woman"? Why not ? He was the president after all?
In short he is the president, but like all politians I don't believe a single word that comes out of their mouths.

By quoting something that had nothing to do with This thread? No need to 'play' with words- just read exactly what i said in THIS thread. sorry, i know that you DO understand what i was saying here, but quoting something that had nothing to do with this served No purpose IMO.

yes but when these celebrities for example go on the TV saying hateful things because they think they can, IMO things like this show nothing more then ignornace.
IMO no one knows what they would do if they were in Bush shoes. So quite honestly vote for him or not that is the time to pass judgement and vocalize.

I agree.

My other thoughts on comments on this thread is that I think the US might elect a woman, if it were a moderate Republican, like a Libby dole. I am not a moderate Republican, I just think a woman like that might have a chance. I don't think Hillary is electable for President, and certainly not in the Red States.

I also think other countries laugh at us for far more than not supporting President Bush.

I didn't vote for Bush and I never would. I am fully aware that he is the President of the country. I am also fully aware that as a citizen of this free nation it is not only my right, but I feel an obligation to question our leaders.

I'm with Heidi - I wouldn't vote for him, and I think it's our responsibility to question authority.

Re: Hilary being ultra-liberal: actually, her problem with many Democrats is that she is not liberal enough - she is very pro-war with Iraq, which has alienated many Dem supporters.

I literally had to check three times. It says that 200 people voted "YES" in the polls.

Why aren't those people speaking up?

maybe b/c they don't feel the need to justify why they feel the way they do? Chat Icon

i voted 'didn't vote for him before, and wont again"..or whatever it said...

although i would have prefered one of the choices to be "HELLLLLLL NOOOOO".....THAT would have gotten my vote! Chat Icon
