I was going to say a telephoto lens for my camera, but the one I have my eye on is over $1000. I might consider a different lens if I could find what I like in the given budget. Otherwise, I might say an awesome 2-stage snowblower.

I don't have an answer - thats why I was looking for suggestions 
At the moment, I'm thinking of a gas fireplace.
an espresso machine was a consideration, but that would be more of an Al gift since I don't drink it. My parents want it to be something I would enjoy also.

Well, I already just got:
a new laptop
car windows tinted
new gates
Those were at the top of my list.
The year of cleaning gift certificate sounds great also 
I reallly want a piano!
Furniture for our patio.
Automatic car starter.
Digital camcorder.
