I read something pretty gross on twoweekwait.com...
...There was a thread that said "what will you do different this month" and one reply was..
"I plan to use real egg whites during BD'ing".
Grossed out as well as morbidly intrigued I researched this...seems that some doctors even recommend this to patients!!! One girl wrote how she injected herself with egg whites before DTD and didn't tell her husband. They got pregnant that month.
I guess people do what they have to do, but one word comes to mind: SALMONELLA!!
I will never view an omelet the same way again....

When I first read it, I thought it was someone joking around.
But if you research it you'll find lots of people using this method...
I would think preseed would do the same thing but doctors wrote that real egg whites are a great substitute for human EWCM and can greatly increase chances of conception for women who don't ever notice EWCM of their own.
But the question still remains..
What came first..the chicken or the egg?

There are many women who would do ANYTHING to get pregnant - regardless of how "disgusting" it might seem to others.
I've said this before, but if my doctor told me that doing handstands after BD would increase my chances... then I'd be doing handstands!

ITs different....but makes sense. Eggs are infact sterile inside. Salmonella and any bacterial contamination comes from the outside of the egg. So if you dip a egg into boiling water for about 10-15 seconds you kill any bacteria on teh outside of the egg....Just a little fact

i think people should be able to use whatever word they feel like.
i'm sorry - but if someone felt it was disgusting - they shouldn't sensor themselves.
I have VERY strong feelings on this because I was 'spoken to' at work for using the word disgusting and have ever since HATED my manager. The situation was DISGUSTING and that's that.
If someone feels that doing this is disgusting - they are entitled to that feeling and shouldn't worry about what others will think of it.
Do i think it's disgusting - yeah, kinda....more gross...but that is JUST ME..

Absolutely it's okay to disagree.... I just think it's important that we are all honest, at all times, however we feel...or we'll just get a board of edited comments that have people just trying to be nice...(which is why i kinda stay away from another board i used to belong too).

Personally? If the doctor told me to drink the egg whites raw and chase it with a side of raw bacon because it would increase the chances of getting pregnant - I would do it in a heartbeat. Gross? Yes. But the end result would hopefully be worth it. It's no different than women drinking icky tasting cough syrup or home brews to increase their chances. To each his own.

I totally agree. I considered real egg whites one month, but chickened out (no pun intended!) because DH wasn't totally on board. But if it came down to it, yeah I'd use it!
And not sure who mentioned it, but people used egg whites long before pre-seed was out there. I think something about the protein content makes it particularly hospitable to sperm.

Gross and disgusting are along the same line in my book..i don't think a PP meant any harm...and I used the word "gross" b/c I honestly feel that way.
I don't care what other people do...I just think that measure is extreme. I think there are prob other options than going to chicken eggs.
Just the same way I felt about a woman who posted pics of her CM at all diff times during the month. Completely unnecessary in my book...but others may find it helpful so I guess if even one person benefits its ok..to each their own, but I think peoples feelings and use of words are completely acceptable!

I've been attacked in the past b/c I used a word about a subject I felt passionately about so I know how you feel...I never made a personal attack on anyone, just a general comment about a broad subject and boy did the gloves come out!!

i just think that people tend to just be sensitive to some topics where some of us dont take things too seriously...
like honestly when i first read the original post.. i didnt read into it and the first thing that came to mind was "gross" or disgusting" NOT thinking that ...hey this could really work? or wow, i never thought of doing that myself in the TTC process.
its something that most of us never heard of doing... at least just me.. so i know for myself i didnt take it too seriously. cause it really was never mentioned on this board before now.
i dont think anyone meant any harm in it... because of course we are ALL trying for a miracle and will do ANYTHING to get PG..
its just that you dont hear too much about this topic so i think thats why we are getting mixed answers...

I have heard of this before and I also found it strange. I wouldn't say it's disgusting, but definately not my thing. Eating a placenta after a baby is born? THAT I find disgusting.

I guess I am on my own here, that I don't find it strange at all. Maybe it is because I had heard of it before, and after I read about it, i would totally use egg whites. Honestly I am much more comfortable using natural products in and on my body then I am using synthetics like pre-seed. You find out that many synthetics do much more damage to your body then the natural remedies.
P.S Egg whites are also great for the circles under your eyes, AND whole eggs make your hair silky especially when you use it with milk

I think alot of the things we have to do to TTC are weird/gross/strange.
You also never know what length people on this board are going to TTC, so I would stay away from calling anything disgusting. KWIM ?
